I just ordered a 5902, waiting to get it in. I was quoted $400 for an install, I told him I had the KX-05 Toyota specific module, but he still wanted to know if I had an extra key. Do I need a different module to be able to keep my spare key?

I also grabbed the window automation system and the electro luminator thing cause it was cheap LOL. It sounds like I should get the proximity motion sensor, and another shock sensor. What is the deal with the tilt sensor, I thought that was just if you get towed or something. Can these modules be added by myself, or should I just get them and have the shop install them?

Depending on the module, you sometimes need 2 keys to program the module, sounds like the installer is just being safe and making sure you have 2 just in case. If you let the installer know you are going to add sensors later, he can leave the mulitplex trigger somewhere you can get to it to add sensors later, but it always easier to add them while everything is apart

Thanks for the tip. I might do that, its just that they want something like $50 for each additional module, so if it is something I could do, I would rather do that.

True, most places will offer a lifetime warranty on installation, which covers you just in case.

But if you are buying your parts online and just having them install, your warranty is more than likely your own problem.

Lastly, I'll just say, the sensors are very easy to wire in, but placing and setting them takes experience, a motion sensor can be the most annoying thing in the world if it's not set well. Most have dual zones (interior and exterior perimeter) They are designed for convertibles and work very well, but you have to know how to program it, or every time someone walks passed your car it's going to go off or warn, which will then page you that it is going off. You need the sensors to be programmed perfectly. If my keys page me, I'm outside instantly, I know it's not going off by mistake.
