I'm from KS and hadn't even ever heard of Dighton. I had to look it up on Google Maps to find out where it was. WAY out there. I bet it's peaceful though.

Loved the response. Ya know I started this post as kind of my farewell to the Tacoma forum thing and just thought some might find it interesting why I traded it. Some were and commented very intelligently and respectfully, as you have. Others are so blinded by there love for the Tacoma that they cannot fathom anyone else not seeing things how they do. I guess good for them if their trucks have no issues at all and they truly love every little aspect of it. Lots of others on this forum have noticed and remarked about flaws they have found on their Tacomas. Good luck with your Tacoma ownership and I hope the issues your truck has are addressed soon.

Not really any sense to keep going on and on regarding my original post. To those that have the 2016 Tacoma and think that anyone that has driven one or owned one and found flaws in the truck is an idiot, well, Probably best just to not comment on those folks. To those that have driven or own/have owned a 2016 Tacoma and found it to have many of the flaws(the buzz, transmission always searching for the right gear, lack of power unless you mash the pedal to the floor, much poorer than advertised gas mileage, water collecting in the front floorboards, etc....), I truly hope Toyota comes up with a fix for these issues and fast. As I stated in my original post, the Tacoma is about 90% of a great truck....90%. I bought one, drove it a couple months and it wasn't for me. Life will go on... Safe travels everyone!

sounds like you should have bought a full size to begin with! i think the size of the tacoma is perfect for a mid size truck and any bigger you might as well go with a full size. my only complaints about my tacoma is i wish it had more hp or did better mpgs. the transmission is w/e with more hp it could be better. I would have also liked a trailer brake option and a electric tailgate locker.

I've had several fords and all of them gave me issues. most recent i had was 2009 f450, 2010 f350, 2012 f350, and some older f150s. The f450 and f350s had the 6.7 diesel which all blew on me under 90k miles (good thing for warranty). also had suspension issues, blown shocks, terrible mpgs, sag suspension, and a few other nic nacs that bugged me. the f150s i just never liked and only bought them to flip. I ended up going back to a Dodge ram 3500 and so far my only complaint is its a little slow, but it does everything else better.

Well, I guess in response I would say I have owned several F-150s and Tacomas. I never had any issues with the F-150s except for normal maintenance stuff likes brakes, plugs, etc... I never had any issue with the Tacomas I owned, up until this 2016. I think if you ask a hundred F150 owners and a 100 Tacoma owners you will get numerous likes and dislikes with BOTH trucks. I only had 6700 miles on my Tacoma and decided I couldn't live with the lack of power, the pulsing buzz between 40 and 60 mph, the tranny always seeming to be in too high a gear, etc... And when corporate told me that the buzz is a normal trait in this truck, despite the fact that there are hundreds of dissatisfied Tacoma owners, that pushed me over the edge to trade.
I'm really glad your experience is great with the truck. Mine, not so much....

I think you mis-took my point. There are a few folks in this forum that cannot and will not believe their precious Tacoma could ever have any faults, and believe that those that people who mention or complain about any flaws or dislikes are idiots. Well, you don't have to dive very deep into the 3rd Gen posts to see numerous dislikes, complaints, faults and unhappy new 2016 Tacoma owners. That was all I was saying. I'm just as sure that there are people that bought other vehicles and shortly after the purchase found some things dissatisfying...

The power delivery anomalies are probably owing to the Atkinson cycle. I'm pretty sure the Tacoma engine is in Atkinson cycle when the pedal depression is shallow. The Atkinson cycle is a low torque mode which reduces effective engine displacement. The point is to increase mileage, though it seems to me that it should be more effective in that regard than it is. When you depress the pedal further, the computer gets the idea that you need torque, and flips the engine back to the normal Otto cycle, and I think this is responsible for the 'all or nothing' effect that the acceleration in the 2016 exhibits. It takes getting used to. I have 3500 miles on mine, and I'm still a little annoyed by it when I need to accelerate, even when in ECT mode. It would be easier to tolerate if the Tacoma got 24-26 mpg for the trade off. But there's no doubt that the power is there, you just have to press deep for it.

Despite the fact that I'm happy with my Tacoma, I totally agree that if a customer decides he can't live with whatever flaws that is inherit with his/her truck then they should definitely seek something else! These trucks cost too much money to spend several years unhappy.

It took me 6 months to realize that my big lifted GMC just wasn't for me. I had no complaints with it mechanically, but it did develop an annoying squeak under the steering column. That drove me f'ing crazy! The dealer couldn't find it either. Nevertheless, it was a so lid truck, but the Tacoma is more to my liking even though it's about twice as small.

Sure it would it be nice to have some more room in the back of a "mid-size" truck, however, if someone wants more room in a "mid-size", it is time to step it on up to a full size vehicle. I find the room to be plenty, even when sitting in the back, if I didn't, I wouldn't have bought the vehicle. The mid-sizes of today are essentially full-sizes of yesterday, so pumping more space into them doesn't make sense. I wasn't saying the fact that you felt the Tacoma was too small was the problem, I WAS saying the fact you BOUGHT a smaller vehicle only to have that as a big complaint is really on the buyer not Toyota.

That would be the same as me hopping into a F150 purchase, then a few months later saying dang this thing is too big, what was Ford thinking, I can't believe this "full-size" vehicle is so large, and then leaving that as a "negative" in my gripes list. The driveline issues I can completely understand, but size-wise...customer knows what they are getting in to. Many 1st gen guys think the 2nd/3rd gen is already a fat cow as it is.

Anyways, best of luck in your future endeavors. The grass is always greener.

I enjoy my new F150 very much also great power and mileage. But I could never say anything bad about the 2nd gen Tacoma. Never been in a 3rd gen Tacoma though.

Thanks! Just had to fill it up today from using the gas the dealer puts in when new. MPG according to the in-dash computer on the first tank was 19.2. I didn't think that was bad at all. I was just driving here locally. And the power this 2.7L Ecoboost puts out is amazing. I can't believe how fast it is and the throttle response is there instantly. My '06 F150 had the 5.4L V8 and I thought it had gobs of power. This 2.7L will run off and hide from that truck. How they get such performance out of such a small engine in a full size truck just baffles me.

While I respect this man's opinion and I get it, I had a 2009 F150 I traded out of it into a Tacoma. That F150 cost me around $33,000 I had it for six years 130,000 miles it was worth less than half what I payed. Nothing holds its value like a Tacoma not even a Tundra. While it's true Tacomas are not roomy like big trucks they don't pretend to be. I have the 4.0 and haven't yet drive the 3.5 so I can't comment on it. I would be sceptical about a truck with a tiny V6 with twin turbos. If it was me I would have got the absolutely tried and proven 302/ 5.0 V8.

True, but not a Tacoma with issues deemed a "characteristic of the truck"
