23 mpg w/4x4 V6 & 6spd manual. Yes its possible.

I know, so many mpg threads. Maybe an auto, but dont think I've seen a 6spd posted this high. 1000 mi trip. Just drove smooth & overgeared where possible. No magic add-ons. Kept it speed limit 65 on interstate, most trip was over the mtns of VT & NH on state/county hwys @ 50-65, few stops & towns.

410 mi/ 17.8 Gal= 23 mpg w/ moderate load (gas light @ 398) on the way out. Around the mtns (some 4wd, off-road) and way back tanks were 21 mpg with A/C on and 500cc Enduro moto in bed.

 

Nice to hear...I have the auto v6 and have a hard time gettting under 21

 

I've got the same truck as Demon.

Just calculated my first tank = 21mpg imperial or 20 US , just driving it back and forth to work....straight shot about 10mins doing 55mph in 6th gear.

Love the truck, I'm glad I didn't let my dad talk me into a Ridgeline.

I often get 19 mpg in the city, but have not the chance to run a whole tank on the highway, I live such a sheltered life.

 

I consistanty get 22MPG imperial gal. 4dr, 6spd, v6. Never overrev keep revs @ 2000-2500 rpm, and shift when needed, I get about 2100 RPM at 100kph about 62MPH. I can 12 if I want to!!!

 

Nice. The 21mpg with the bike is most impressive. A/C on while highway cruising is better than the windows open.

 

21mpg imperial is actually 17.5mpg US.

Lately I have been getting 18.5mpg US - that is my best yet.

 

Damn metric conversions anyway.....why couldn't we all just use the same standard of measure????

 

Well everybody in the world uses the the metric system...it's those damn americans that have to mess everything up.

 

Who's fault is that? You know about where I am, and Demoncleaner ain't too far away.

Oh, and I consistently get 20mpg after installing my AFE Pro Dry filter.

my 110 defender takes 13 liter diesel in 100km.


I just signet in today 1st time after i read a plenty of weeks.
i plan to import a taco to germany, cause i think its a great truck.
the mesurement to me is much more difficult
this time i try to find out if the manual or the automatic saves more fuel,-
cause we pay 1,55€ for one liter super.

Welcome! The auto seems to get slightly better mpg due to the taller OD gear.

about the same for me. after the 1st tank of a little showing off and pimpin' in my new V6 auto, DC Pre-Runner, i got 21.8 on the 1st tank and 21.9mpg on the 2nd. mostly interstate and state hwys. 60-65mph, AC running wide open, both tanks. also i dont use the cruise control i found going up hills it would sometimes downshift and up the RPM's. i am a little more easy on the pedal than the CC

i gave $3.38 per gal today

I was getting 20-20.5 mpg avg. and the wife started driving in town, stop, stop, stop, with AC all the time. I got as low as 16mpg. I went to Tahoe and came back down the hill 6,000-7000ft from the Truckee end and got 22.5-23mpg. My conclusion is that the EPA milage is about right 16 city and 20-21 highway. This is in a 2007 PreRunner V6 DC Long Bed. In Black of course LOLOLOL!!!..Rich

I also have a 2007 Double Cab PreRunner V6 Auto in black. My last tank netted me 26.06 MPG, but my best tank was 26.66 MPG. My 21 mile commute is mostly freeway.

This was accomplished by driving technique, and inflating my stock tires to max sidewall pressure 51 PSI. I also have a diamond plate tonneau cover.

Most of the mileage gained is because I drive a little slower. The speed limit on my commute is 55 due to construction. I follow the speed limit, and avoid mashing the accelerator. Keep the RPMs under 2000, and avoiding excessive idiling, also help.
