Funny you should say that...because I've turned to wearing only certain shoes when I drive mine since the vibration in the pedal is felt much worse when wearing some, than others....

As a matter of fact, I have some 'gel' gloves that I can wear that seem to dampen the steering wheel buzz quite a bit....problem is that it is getting warmer (although we had lots of snow the other day) and the gloves get hot to wear, especially in the truck....

Wow, Doobie yours must be the pinnacle of this vibration issue. I don't know what I would do if mine was so bad I had to wear gel gloves to drive it. Have you tried any steering wheel covers temporarily?

Also, when you've had it in what all have they checked? I know it is probably within all of these pages but I'm hoping you can just give a quick list.

Did they check bolt torques anywhere?

Did they neutral out your engine/transmission mounts?

Did they REMOVE drive shafts and verify that the u-joints moved smoothly and weren't seized or rough?

I doubt they would, but did they verify the drive shaft assemblies are balanced?

Did they verify there isn't excessive play in your steering shaft where it meets the steering rack?

Do you also have the low speed vibration/shudder?

Did they verify no codes have been stored related to fuel delivery?

Do you notice anything when revving in neutral (I do slightly) and did they and if so, did they probe around the engine with chassis ears and find everything to be normal?

Although I highly, highly suspect it is NOT tire related, did they rotate your tires for kicks and giggles?

These would be the easier things to verify if they are ok.

See responses in bold, above. The team that came from Toyota/Denver, admitted that what I felt was there and speculated as to why; however, again, their determination was that it was within spec and 'normal operation for this vehicle' and was functioning as designed. They just looked at me blankly when I let them know that my '10 FJC, which I had traded for this truck, was smoother and easier to drive on long trips and that no other vehicle, including my Harley's, had ever numbed my hands and lower arms when driving....

My dealership is basically staying away from this.....Fleet Manager friend says he can't keep the Tacoma in stock, so mine might just be me....he truly just avoids me at this point, knowing how unhappy I am....

No. I don't want to do any modifications because of this issue and the low speed vibration issue I have until my warranty runs out.

Same here lift is waiting to be put on after one more visit to the dealer if I do not trade. Heading to Ford after work to see numbers and loss after trade. So after more owners chime in if they are lifted or not could maybe lifted ones not have the vibe/buzz. Shot in the dark. Maybe front or rear drive shaft angles, play or "?" takes this vibe not the outer diff bearing vibe of course away after lift or just did not show up before lifted? Maybe post in the lifted section to see if anyone there has it.
We will figure it our one way or the other for Toyota:-/ I do know I have worked vibes out by flipping the drop center bearing and on other vehicles "Jeep" shimmed rears and installed slip yoke illimenator kits. I know we do not have slip yokes on Tacoma by the way. lol
I truly am baffled that other members say they don't have it AT ALL since it seems to be a resonance frequency issue.
I truly believe that EVERY six cylinder vehicle has this vibration to some degree, although it may be somewhat more prevalent in some vehicles. I think the fact that some owners report no such vibration is simply due to their lack of awareness of the issue. Some posters on this thread have even mentioned that they did not notice the vibration until they began looking for it. I personally have inquired to two other local owners who stated that they did not have the issue and then reported back to me, after our discussion, that they did in fact notice the vibration.

I agree. I would have probably noticed it anyway... I just wouldn't have thought anything of it. While I wish it were smoother, the level of vibration right now does not bother me. I just pray it doesn't get worse. I think this vehicle does a worse job of hiding the buzzing than other vehicles.

Although some secondary component (e.g., motor mounts, exhaust, etc.) may actually result in the vibration, it would seem to me that the engine itself must be the seminal cause since the vibration occurs throughout the same RPM range in all gears, including neutral. So, does anyone know what, if anything, might occur with the Atkinson engine in this RPM range? And then we have Toyota's D-4S technology, which features direct and port fuel injection. This system "combines injectors that inject fuel at high pressure directly into the cylinders, together with conventional injectors, injecting fuel into the intake ports," according to Toyota. The two systems turn on and off DEPENDING ON ENGINE SPEED.

Not trying to jack your thread but 2,200 miles no vibrations. I've only owned it a month.

"Got Buzzed Today" ... I was at 930 miles and 3 weeks old and driving up slight incline and accelerating in low RPMs and radio volume low and I heard a faint "bee buzzing" in driver's door panel top area and it did this "slight buzz" about 3 or 4 times and then it stopped and then I just remembered when I saw this thread and then I typed this and then I quit.

It sounds like a door clip picking up a harmonic vibration from the chassis if everything is just right ... mine was not a big deal (yet).

If every Tacoma is prone to this in some way shape or form Toyota will never do anything about it .

Anyone in this thread that hasn't opened an official complaint with Toyota corporate needs to stop what they are doing right now and open one.

This happens, to varying degrees, in all of the 16 Tacomas I have driven (which at this point is over a dozen).

My corporate cust service rep acknowledged that they are actively reviewing all issues, especially issues with this new generation of their flagship truck, and they count on us to inform them of issues. So lets do it.

I would ask anyone that has even a slight vibration (even if you can live with it), open a ticket and report your issues for the rest of us.

If my corporate rep doesn't come back with a satisfactory remedy for me I am going to put them on blast on twitter and facebook. Maybe we can create a #hashtag that we could get to trend on twitter?

... ^^^ ... My concern is the "fix" being worse than the "buzz" ... especially a "slight buzz".

I always liked a "slight buzz" in the past (sometimes ) ... :anonymous:

I saw your post in 4 bangers. I have not noticed any buzzing, but I do have quite a bit of wind noise that comes through the front top of the drivers door at all times on my access cab.

I figured tightening the door jam might improve it. It's only noticeable when the radio is off.

I thought you guys figured it was the way the Cat was mounted to the frame on the v-6's.

Good luck to you, really sad to hear so many issues.
