I know it's a truck forum but, it's TW. Tons of peeps with lots of differing interest.

My home theater system is a 7.2. I've got 5 full size towers for fronts, rears & center (center is shaped different but still includes the same 2 decent woofers & a tweeter). The two "high fronts" are small bi full range surrounds.

I have true dual independent subs. A different brand than the towers but, have been decent. They are powered 12" Paradigms. One of them has given up. So, I'm looking to replace both and putting the one good sub remaining into my garage system.

Here's my question: I'm leaning towards the Klipsch Reference R-112SW. Does anyone run these and can you provide feedback?

Does anyone else have recommendations for other brands & or models?

This was true with the older stuff, some of the newer "looks" a bit cheesy, but I've NOT listened to any newer ones. I haven't been in the market since I went with J&M Labs/Focal set up. I do however have an older pair of Klipsch KG4s I need to sale.

Focals are above what I want to spend. I know they've won some awards but the ones I've looked at started around $2,500 EACH. I'm hoping to keep the price of two ~$1,500.

That shouldn't be too hard a task.

I haven't tried the Klipsch, but I currently use the BIC Acoustech PL-200. It's definitely not as fancy as the paradigm subs but for my starter home theatre system it performs very well and provides more than enough bass for the space.

Took me forever to pull these up on my phone with 1x service speed.

    Wish they were subs!

The KG4s I found that were for sell/sale :) were still worth some coin.

Never used one of those, but my Klipsch SW 210 is off the chain. It's an older model - down-firing rear-ported 10 with 200W RMS on tap. Most amazing affordable sub I've ever heard.

Really? They're just sitting in the spare bedroom. I have the factory boxes and all paperwork. I was always impressed that they were hand built in Arkansas and hand signed in ink by the builder and the test analyst/QC person. I had them tied to an old N.A.D. amp, I'm quite certain my neighbors hated me.....

I've went from crawl space to concrete slab where I live. Seems the sound quality, mostly bass, had a hard time. Do either of you have your sub on a slab?

Ya man, a not so quick google search showed pairs of "vintage" KG4s ranging from $550 to $800.

Giddy up!!! That's around what I paid in the early nineties. And yes, I'm now on a slab, and yes those speakers "seemed" to have became a bit tighter? Less warm? But you could semi tune with placement. But the wifey wanted less obtrusive, so I got a Yamaha "surround system" that was a total joke. Tried a couple other combinations, Polk and KEF. Wasn't happy with those and finally dropped for athe J&M Lab stuff.

My home theater system consists of two Klipsh "Heresy" speakers and a Klipsch 12" sub. The Heresy's I believe could be considered 'vintage' and the sub is an older model as someone else describe as down-firing and ported in the rear. This sub was an upgrade given to me from my dad. I originally had the same model Klipsch but in a 10". All this is powered by a Sony receiver from Goodwill, lol. The receiver is crap but the system hits hard and loud through a Google Chrome Audio.

Herseys were the shit!!! Well behind the Klipschhorns. I couldn't quite swing those back then. Honestly, do your speakers a favor and ditch the Sony crap. You'll be astounded at the difference quality electronics make.

No he's right. Maybe not about Sony, but about my receiver in particular. It was $26 from Goodwill. I'm sure the Heresy's could use more power anyways. I looked up the Heresy's on eBay... damn they are expensive. Thank you dad! He chose to keep his old JBL floor speakers instead (like from the 70's).
