What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

after getting them... honestly... I can't belive I didn't do it sooner. they're so fucking nice, especially not having to work around that fucking prop all the time

 

My dang rpms are whack.

It idles fully warmed up around 1000 now. Has been for about a year. And sometimes when warming up the idle will go up for a few seconds then down. It's also doing that fully warmed up at stop lights, feels like the rpms increasing for the A/C compressor but the air is off.

It's bugging me

 

Being a smaller person I decided id finally use the original wheels from my truck. So to lower the height of the truck I put a set of junk 205/60r16 tires on them and boom, instant easier access while I work under the hood. only down side is it looks ridiculous


And its running open headers as of now. getting things ready to pull the trans later this week.

 

Sounds like a bad throttle position sensor.

When's the last time you cleaned the MAF, throttle body, IAC and changed your spark plugs/wires?

 

Yes, yes it does.

Is my truck going to blow up now?

 

I'm not sure but I think the plugs and plug wires are stock. I think my grandpa had the intake cleaned before I got it, but that was before 70k and its at 118k now.

You could say I have a lot to do this summer

 

I had a 2300 rpm idle problem on two different throttle bodies...it was the iac valve twice

 

Mine is doing the same.

lol just takes stress off the mounts when you first try to close them. They are really tough to cycle (comparatively) the first couple times then settle in.

Why put tires on them at all? Save ya another 2-3 inches with no rubber!

I see tires being referred to as 31's and 33's is that that diameter of the overall tire and wheel combined?

Mine did this exact same thing for about a year, would idle even warm around 1100 rpm, until last weekend when i changed all the timing pieces and water pump etc. Truck runs and sounds like a completely different truck. difficult to describe exactly how incredible the difference is. now oonce warm it idles at right around 650-700 rpm. night and day difference.
