Your new 2010 - 2015 truck -Auto transmission could be low on fluid directly from factory

I work in a dealership and you are absolutely correct.

 

It states: "Let transmission fluid cool to under 115 deg F. Inspected fluid level at 110 deg F. Filled transmission with 1 QT of WS fluid. Ok at this time."
I don't see any mention of Techstream, as others have mentioned.

Hm. On the positive side you should have more than enough fluid, if not a smidge too much, but that's certainly better than the opposite situation.

 

WEB search has shown there is what appears to be conflicting information regarding fluid temperature for the dipstickless A750E/A750F transmissions(see below). There may be more than what I have posted. All of these appeared to be extracts from Toyota FSMs. It's my understanding that Techstream can detect VIN/yr/make/model. Perhaps there's a built in temp table for yr/make/model that Techstream selects? I elected to use the ODB-II port 4/13 jumper technique, assuming the correct temp range for the vehicle was programmed into the ECM/TCM

Low - 97F High - 115F

Low - 104F High - 113F

Low - 115F High - 130F

 

Any progress?
My understanding is the '07 and earlier had dipsticks...

 

If someone here wants to try adding a dip stick to a A750 transmission, you need to get the trans pan from a 03 (or 04?) Land Cruiser.

Took my truck in the other day to the dealer, and while it was there, I asked them to check the level due to shifting. The service writer looked at me like that was ridiculous, and denied that any trucks were low on fluid. I then told him it was prevalent on the '16s, and then acted surprised that I knew that, and then agreed with me. Needless to say, I won't be using that dealer anymore. I figured they would check it because I bought it there, but nope.

 

So I have a 2012. It has run fine but am approaching 90k miles. Should i get the transmission oil changed soon?

Hey guys . Havnt had a chance to look into a filler tube yet . As soon as I get a chance I will look at the possibility . Judging by the posts above there may be some light at the end of the tunnel .

Im the original owner. I never saw it say that the fluid needed to be changed at 60k. I changed diff oils then.

 

Somewhere there is a revised bulletin stating that the change interval is shorter now.

But beyond all that -- if you have ever gone off roading in the summer or spent more than a few hours per year stuck in a bumper-to-bumper traffic jam in hot weather, your trans fluid probably needs to be changed. At least do a drain and fill if not a full exchange.

 

Bolt hole count and bolt hole position of this older pan match the newer A750E/A750F transmission?

 

We need a brave soul with about $150 to burn to try it out. (if buying new).
The link I posted earlier is only for the pan. You would also need to buy the dipstick separately.

 

Toyota dealer said it has an inspection at 100k and they only do a drain and fill no exchange for 229.

 

Let this chart be your guide. I know we don't all know our exact transmission temperature, but if you've ever put the transmission through any sort of MAJOR stress then each time is a reason to change the fluid early.

Heat kills not only the hardware, but also deteriorates the additives in the fluid, making it less capable of handling adverse conditions the next time things get bad.
