Have a 32 gig 3.0 USB drive. I have erased it and put music on it. All computer can read and play it. But my Tacoma does not even see it. Do I need to reformat it and if so to what. Using a iMac if that helps or hurts anyone with knowledge.

I can see it on a laptop and other computers so I know the USB is ok.

    Thanks for your help,

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Mine (2012) didn't like anything >16GB so I have a Patriot 16GB "Autobahn" series. Keep it FAT32 and use MP3s, at least that works for me.

Some music it still hates, it won't play an entire Six Feet Under album for no obvious reason... Matches format/bitrate, etc, of other music.

How much music did you put on it and how long did you wait? The Entune system needs time to load all the music and it can seem like it isn't finding anything. If you put a full 32GB flash drive in it, expect it to take a few minutes to load up song data EVERY TIME you start the truck.

    Every time??

Mine will remember exactly where it left off on a particular song even if I remove the flash drive and turn it off. Maybe Entune is different from the stock head unit?

Sorry what I mean is Entune has to go through all the files to put them into memory. If you had a song playing the last time in the truck, it will keep playing, but there will be a brief time when you can't advance the track since it is loading the songs.

Can't say I've experienced that delay, either. I mean I can switch off USB, remove the drive, shut off the truck, drive a few days, plug the USB in, cold start, switch to USB, and hear the track that was playing when I last had it in.

Seems that database stores a bit more info than we give it credit for.

Try a smaller size USB. Your original post says 32 GB, but the image above says 63 GB available. Confused...And what is up with that Crreation Date? December 1, 1969. I don't think so.

I have never seen a stereo that would read above 32 GB and it all depends on the USB Stick. I have had some read and some that simply would not.

Waited about 5 minutes. My buddy has a 32 gig with 1000 songs and it loads up within a minute-In my truck so I know it works. Just wondering if this has something to do with the USB being Erased though the Disk Utilities

Yep my bad-thought it was a 32 but this is a 64 gig. I know they can read this size and bigger. Just takes more time. more of less wondering about format and why it is not readable by Etune.

Rarely have had any success using an Apple product.

However, even with Windows, you have to use a utility to format anything larger than 32GB as FAT32.

I would try reformatting, and be sure there are no extraneous files in the root directory other than music files (MP3, WMA, etc.)

If you have used the drive before.. make it doesn't have any encryption on it.

The screenshot you posted -- it looks like you're using Linux.

I know it shouldn't matter, but have you tried formatting and then copying your music onto the USB from a Windows machine? Just a hunch.

When putting music onto a USB, what is the best way so that you can search by artist, album etc? I am figuring you cannot do it by folders. These are all songs that I am moving from iTunes and converting to mp3 so they should have artist info etc. Am I making too big of a deal out of this? I think it would be better then a ton of CDs and/or playing thru Bluetooth.

Entune will read the ID3 tag data on your songs and you can search on the interface. Folders on the USB drive don't get read in.
