Hey all. Been doing some searching but can't find a definitive answer. Currently my 2013 double cab prerunner has 5100's set at 1.75 with a 1" block in rear. Wheels seem to be mb tko 17x8.5 I believe the BS is 4.5 (is there a way to tell? Bought them used). Currently have cooper AT 265/70/17 but would like to go 285/70. Can this be done without going a bigger lift? I don't wheel. Purely aesthetic.
    Thanks !

It is possible with the right BS and the right alignment. Not sure what the specs of each or but i have read where people were able to do it with a 3 inch lift. The only concern you will have is possible (more probable) tire rub on the inner fender walls when turning to the max.

depends on the tires too. Some have squared shoulders which take up more room in a wheel well at lock. Mudders with 18/32's of tread vs P rated AT'a with 13. Makes a 1/3" difference in dire diameter.

Just to clarify stock is 5.5 bs. I have heard of people getting away with 275/70/17 but never 285/70's without a 3 inch lift. You could, but most likely not without cutting a good amount. The good thing is you are a prerunner and lifting is a bit easier if you decided to go that route. It's easier to lift because you don't have to worry about cv angles if you even decided to go bigger than even 3 inches

ive read where some Pro owners are running 285's with no rubbing, is it because of the rims ?

I have 265/65-17 (stock size) BFG AT's on my '14 TRD Sport (stock wheels), and the paint is rubbed off the end of the UCA. The type of tire you have makes a big difference.

Here are my 265's. Maybe 275 would be a wiser choice..

Even with a 3" ProComp lift I was still rubbing at full wheel turn (285/70r17 Toyo Open Country AT IIs)... it was catching the front mud flaps at full turn. Resolution: remove front mud flaps...no more rub (at least nothing that has been audible).

Check out the 275/70r17 cooper stt max. A nice medium that you should be able to fit with minimal rubbing.

It's great. Lot less body roll and you can take turns quicker. It's stiffer but in a good way IMO.

Is it a noticeable size difference?

I have the 265/70r17 general grabbers on my truck and my buddy has the 275/70r17 coopers on his truck. His are noticeably larger, even though the actual size differences aren't too different.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
When you put on a 285/70R17 or 285/75R16 tire you're gonna rub. Eventually you can cut off enough where it only rubs when fully compressed into the wheel well.

A 1.75" lift is gonna rub like a cheap asian hooker.

I have bfg at ko2 in 285s, 4.75 back spacing, with about the same lift as you in the front (1.75) and nothing in the rear. Truck is level. I need is to take off all my mudflaps and trim the corner of the fender flares a bit. I still rub a lot.

I'd put the 5100s up to he next clip higher, and you should be fairly ok for 285s and will clear 275s easily.

I think that is the answer then. I don't want to get into trimming, and I think it would give me the look I'm after without raising the height anymore.
