Nope. Truck goes into pump mode. You will have to deal with it.

I'm on my phone, but the mod is easy to locate on the Tundra sites. I use Tundraworld.net. I have the same user name. Search for post by me or AIP delete mod.

The only time the pumps and valves are used is during cold start ups. The computer does not run this check one arm start ups. The mod trucks the ECU into thinking the truck is warm, so no check, this no failure, this no pump mode.

I've had it on the Tundra for ,3 years, in all weather conditions. It does not effect anything.

I actually think it would pass a smog check too. No one goes to get their vehicle checked with a cold engine. You have to drive to the inspection station.

People wonder why they clear their codes by pulling better connection, it's because after the truck goes into pump mode, it's already warm. The codes don't come back until the next cold start.

Yes, the only difference is I build my own and didn't to the blocking plates. The relay is a generic relay that only cost $8.

Update: I took it to the dealer, they told me it was my air pump, that it fell under my emissions warranty and that they will put me in a rental car. So now Im driving around in a corolla with a full tank of gas, my part should be here tomorrow and fixed by the beginning of the week.

I have this fail just this weekend at 7,8xx miles. Truck is now at Toyota awaiting the part arrival. I have an 8yr/100K warranty and I think before that is done, I will do the bypass mod and be done with it.

2012 Tacoma 49000+ miles and the light came on and in limp mode (almost no acceleration). Took it to dealer and they quoted me 2100 told me codes were 2440 and 2442. I said I would need to get a second opinion. Did some research about the codes. Inspected and cleaned the pump filter (but it seemed already pretty clean) and at the same time disconnected/reconnected the battery to clear the light. Been running without any problems for 1 week.

I checked the warranty and I don't think it would cover this since it would fall under the Cold Start Enrichment System in the Federal Emission Control part of the standard warranty and my state does not have strict emission controls.

Looks like my 2012 machine is having this very issue. Quoted $1900 bucks from the dealership to repair. Freakin' aye... 30K miles on the rig. :(

My light came back on a couple days after my post. Did the same trick but the light came on the next day. Did it again and it lasted for a few days so it's inconsistent. It's true about the warranty, only the 3 year / 36000 mile warranty covers it.

I politely told the Service Manager that I don't think I should pay 2100 and that if they could not resolve the issue that I would then call the national customer service number and if they could not help me I'd talk to my brother who is an exec with Toyota who said he would make some calls. The SM said they would apply for a "goodwill warranty" (which he said the original assistant SM that gave me the estimate should have done but did not, imagine that) and should know if I get approved later on in the day. The SM called me back shortly after and said they would be able to get the parts covered under warranty but I would be responsible for the labor which is estimated at $430. I think this is fair since the dealer didn't make the parts.

If Toyota does what they did for the Tundras with this same problem then I expect to get reimbursed for the labor sometime in the future.
