so I've built a few second gens, and one third gen. I intened to use these wheels on a first gen.

With the 4.5" bs, and -12 offset, will these guys clear calipers?

I'm used to trimming for 285's with 3" of lift, I just want some reassurance that these wheels will clear everything. Common sense tells me that I'd only have to worry if I went with a 15" wheel.

You putting these on your 2016?

Unless the brakes on the new 3rd gens are drastically larger than the 2nd gens they should fit fine.

If you are running stock UCAs, a tire with a section width of 285 mm will be very close to the ball joint area of the UCA. With 285s you really need less backspacing. On a 1st gen with stock UCAs this means 4" or less of BS.

This may be a dumb question but does anyone know if the 2016 TRD OR rims will fit an 01 4x4. Gentleman wants to buy them from me but wants to make sure they will fit. Everything is stock on his 01. Here are the specs for the rim. Tires are 265/70r16

    Rim Diameter: 16

    Offset: 30

    Load Index: 112

    Number of Bolts: 6

    Speed Index: T

    Bolt Pattern: 6X139

    DOT: 0316

For what its worth my last set of wheels had 4.5" of BS and with my 285s I was still able to fit my hand between the inside of the tire and the UCA. Granted this was a 16x8 wheel...so yeah Mike is probably right the 17x9s will put you closer to the UCA and may put you into the "danger zone".

The other issue with running that wheel and 285s will be frame rub when making tight turns. I switch to a 16x8 w/ 4" of BS and while it rubs more on the pitch weld (you can always trim this) the frame rub it totally gone. Unless you already have the tires I would strongly consider running 16s or 15s.
