    flip pack... oh yea
Yesterday morning, my boyfriend reached over from the passenger seat and pushed the "clutch start cancel" button to start the truck. He went to turn the key after pushing the button and the truck cranked and cranked and cranked and would not fire. It was a cold morning with a heavy frost so we weren't sure if that was the issue. We waited until later in the afternoon to try to start the truck again and without hitting the "clutch start cancel" button, the truck fired right up without an issue.
Today, the truck started in the cold frosty morning without an issue and we did not push the "clutch start cancel" button and continued to start all day without any issues.
We figured we'd test the "clutch start cancel" button once we were home in the afternoon today and the truck wouldn't start, but will just crank over. Even after sitting for an hour it still won't start even though the "clutch start cancel" isn't engaged anymore....
Any ideas??? Hopefully it will start tomorrow.

Maybe we shouldn't have pushed the button....

Subbed...My truck won't start using the CSC button either, starts up just fine regularly though. Using CSC it just cranks real slowly but doesn't turn over. So yours won't start at all now? I wonder if the CSC feature is still stuck on even if the button shows that it's off?

Hopefully someone can shine some light on this.

Sub'd...my truck is actually the opposite. It will only start using the csc button. Will not even crank without it.

@bnl129 when you say it wont start at all now, does it crank when you try?

I would guess your clutch safety switch is bad.

The only thing your CSC button should do is override the clutch safety switch. has to be coincidence. try jumping the clutch safety switch and pressing the CSC button.

On my truck (04 5vz 4x4) that's not true at all. Both CSC and the CS switches directly control the starter relay. AND feed the Starting input on the ECU. The CSC SW is a complicated little circuit, that may cause multiple starting hijinks when it goes bad. There's a testing procedure for the CSCS listed in the fsm.

Your clutch depression switch is probably bad, misadjusted or unplugged.

Awesome! Thanks for all of the input so far. We'll look into the FSM info you sent us tonight. Hope that will help.

Just an update, the truck still wouldn't start this morning so we cracked a fuel line while we were cranking it and no fuel came out. It would make sense that it's something related to the ECU.

Well to close the book on the case, it was strictly coincidence that the truck stopped running when we pushed the clutch start cancel switch. It turned out to be the fuel pump went bad. So she's running again....

Although we did destroy the CSC SW in the process.. The diagram that was provided to test the switch was for an 03 or 04 and they must have swapped the terminals on the switch from 97-04 because we "blew" it up when we tested it according to the diagram. Luckily the truck runs without the switch though.
