Magic of the Access Cab? Do you have a bed cover?

To be clear, you are saying you drive at 75 and do not see the I-LUV-4th-gear-and-I-won't-leave issue. Is that correct?

How long ago did you get your truck? Maybe they've made a running production update?

I got my truck last month. Have been above 75 on the highway plenty of times so far and it purrs in 6th gear.

Let me get this straight, you're requesting I post a video to prove I don't have a problem? I don't think I care enough to bother. I'm not a fanboy or an apologist, I'm just commenting that I'm not having an issue that some of you seem to be having.

Yes, set cruise at 75 and take a 1 minute video showing instrument cluster. And it's not "some" of us having this problem...it's everyone but you apparently.

I can confirm the original post. I just got back from dealership having them top off transmission fluid. The "master tech" told the service manager to tell me that an firmware update (whatever it's called) is in the works. I pressed for a timeframe, but was told it's unknown. I asked "this year?" and he said most likely. I don't have more details on what the update would actually do.

As for how this will be pushed out, he's thinking it won't be a recall/mandatory update, but more of a service bulletin. If you've experienced any issues with your ATM then you would be a candidate for the update. His recommendation was to log a formal complaint/inquiry with Toyota corporate somewhere along the way to provide a record and improve likelihood and ease of getting the update.

You are exactly right. You must have a IT software development background Many people don't understand software development and all the things envolved in developing software

I do have the Lag from R to D, I only drive it once a week so I will wait for the update and hope it comes sooner rather than later, but I still love the truck

This might be a stupid question, but how do one figure out what gear is the truck in while in D. Do you just count it?

Not true with my truck. I have have the hanging 4th gear issue, much less now than when new after I added ATF, but mine always in 5th or 6th when going 75mph unless climbing a hill.

same here. travel at 80 plenty of times and the tach sits around 2k, no
    revving, no issue.

My dealer has checked ATF twice now and reported it as normal both times. They made sure to describe to me that they did the real warm up check and not just the computer check. I just don't know if I should trust how accurate they are. Obviously there is some kind of "range" that is considered normal.

Is there any harm in adding a 1/2 quart to what I have now and see if it makes any difference at all? I know it's bad to over-fill, but there must be some tolerance for up to 1/2 quart?

Nothing fancy, yet. Weathertech mats front/back + their mud guards, some reflective striping and custom carpets on the storage bin lids underneath the jump seats.
This issue reminds me of a throttle sensitivity problem folks were experiencing with the new-for-2014 Yamaha FZ-09, fly-by-wire three cylinder motorcycles. A good portion of owners complained that the bikes were virtually unrideable in the aggressive "A" mode (Bike has three ride modes: Standard, B for rain and A for hauling ***).
Yamaha offered a free reflash* of the ECM to tone down the throttle response a bit, much to many owners' delight.
When the dealership contacted me about my bike, I told them I was happy with the way it rides. I can do slow figure eights in A mode all day without a hiccup.

I haven't had a chance to set the Taco's cruise control at 75mph or greater here in Ga. as we have a max speed limit of 70mph on the interstate and I seldom see highway use. Now that ya'll have got my curiosity up, I may have to take a drive up the road and see what happens. If so, I will happily post a video of the dash. =)

    * A reflash doesn't just erase memory, it is basically an overwrite of the existing programming with the new coding. Having done some setups with Dynojet Power Commander modules for simple fuel mapping, it can be a pain to get it exactly right. I wouldn't even begin to try and figure out the stuff needed for the engine/transmission relationship programming! =O

Is this going to be a recall or well known service thing? Or is this going to be one of those things I try to set up to have done and nobody has a damn clue what I'm talking about? lol

Please don't derail this thread into another discussion about low ATF. Ask you questions regarding that in one of the ATF threads.

Why not just check it yourself? I wouldn't just "add some" and hope it's ok.

Yeah I know I should. Getting a free cycle to get it done is my issue. Just wanted to know if anyone knew if 1/2 quart added would hurt anything. tks.

I don't have this problem. I got my truck in January - made in Texas.
