I test drove a 2016 auto, just cuz I wanted to be in the cab and feel the truck. I didn't think it was any worse or better than the 2014 and 2015 autos I test drove. Hated all of em. Take that with a grain of salt, I have only driven one auto I really liked, perhaps I have a bit of a prejudice... I would have test drove a manual, bit I could not find one in my area. Toyota has always made a slick stick, so I ordered one, test drove it when it got here, and it is a good 3 pedal. Happy as hell with my truck.

For a truck, it is a high rev set of gears. I try not to live above 3000 revs as a general rule, but merging today I needed more, and north of 3500 it really takes off. Point is, if you ever really need it, the speed is there. You just have to go get it. I like knowing I can have it, just drop a gear and leadfoot it.

Oh, and yeah, I waited over 10 weeks to get it. That is the worst part of owning a manual.

 

So....... I have a 2007 Tacoma with the 6 speed. 2 years ago I glued 2 pennies on top of the clutch up stop to take out all of the play in the clutch Pedal. I adjusted the pedal afterwards and it took almost Three quarters of an inch out of the clutch travel And I have had no problems since.

Dealing with a dealer right now (who shall remain anonymous). I am looking for a OR 4x4 M/T + Tow no options. I called and he basically said getting the M/T is harder so they won't deal as much on an order (which is what I would have to do). I am attaching his pricing breakdown. I somehow think I could do better but maybe not since our M/T unicorns are so precious. Can you guys let me know what you think? Maybe I should post in the pricing thread so apologies if this in the wrong place.

Here is the closest invoice that I can find for you. I cannot sell this vehicle for $1,453 under invoice, which would actually be $1,952 under invoice because I don't have a dealer handling fee like every other dealer in town. Our pricing is $700 off of MSRP because of availability and demand. I have almost filled all of my orders on this build but it has taken a long time for them to be filled because this is the hardest vehicle to get from Toyota right now. I'm not sure when that master list was made but the Tacoma did just have a price increase, which isn't reflected based on the MSRP difference on the sheet. The base MSRP of this Truck with no options is $32,460 plus the tow package and destination fees.That list states that it doesn't include delivery processing and handling from Toyota. My invoice will break everything down for you so there are no confusion on what the real cost of this Tacoma is. I hope you can understand that our pricing is aggressive and straight forward based on the truck you are looking at. If you were looking at an automatic Off Road, we are priced much more aggressively because of availability. The sooner we get the order in the better. We are in the middle of an allocation week and we could get what you are looking for this week but I can't hold it without a deposit. I got the same exact thing. With TTL and all the fees I paid 34,2xx put 2k down and financed the rest.

 

This is without TTL though. So it looks I am $2k higher than I need to be.

 

Take their quote to another dealer. If that dealer beats it bring i back to the original and go from there lol

 

Thanks! I will do that. I have seen a handful of invoices on this page for people who got $1500 to $2k better deals than so I will keep looking.

 

He basically made it sound like manuals can't be haggled on because they are only a small percentage of output. You would think if that were the case the manual would actually cost more in their build master list.

 

I had the same problem. Except nobody wanted to even order one for me. Someone recommended me to a dealer and he got it done. I got $2500 off msrp. TRDOF w/tech package, MT. Ended up being $37k out the door with 7.25% sales tax included.

 

That is 7545 right?

I wanted to order that truck + sunroof and tow package.

Around here, not only wouldn't they order, wanted $1500 + MSRP.

 

It seems that you need to know someone at the dealer to get one

 

I ordered mine w/ the local dealer using the Costco buying program. I honestly can't remember off the top of my head but it was either 500 or 750 over invoice.

 

Based on your ideas of how the body needs balance, I do not understand how only using one foot to drive(auto) vs. two feet to drive(manual) makes any sense. It seems logical to me that using both feet would create more balance. I understand that if you are in pain that a manual may be ill suited for you. It sounds like like you obviously sit all day, I assume that your health is one area that you do not achieve the "110% superstar" status. All of this, coupled with the new found need for an automatic explains the post that you originally quoted, "Automatics are for fat people.".

It seems that this time of the year the pickins get a little slim with the 2017s getting ready to go into production !

 

eh, doubt it. Not like they are halting production to make any changes for the 2017's. Output will remain constant.

 

When it comes to the manual trans truck it does only 5% are manual transmission !
