Hello, first time poster here. My truck is idling hard/ vibrating and sputtering after it's been warm, shut off and started again. Also seems to be worse in drive rather than neutral. It is throwing a engine lean code ( forgot the number ) and when it sputters the CEL flashes. My first though is a bad injector, which would cause the misfiring and a lean code. Thoughts? Advice? I'm trying to isolate the problem before shotgunning parts r

I don't know about your issue but I had the same symptoms with my 2.7 when one of the spark plugs came loose. This was one of the original plugs it came from the factory with, re torqued it and the problem went away.

Like above, clean MAF and if the plugs and wires are due for a change then change them. Although you probably have coil packs so I'm not sure on life span of those. Reset the ECU when done and let it adjust again.

I had the exact same problem with flashing CEL and misfire on cylinder 1. How many miles on the motor and have the valve clearances been checked in the last 50k miles, or ever? Start small and work your way up. Clean the MAF, check/change plugs and wires (if you have wires). A compression test may be in order as well.

I have a 2000 and it has plug wires vs coil packs. My problem ended up being a cracked cylinder head between #2 & #3 cylinders.

What is the exact code? If you don't know, go to autozone, and they will tell you.
'Lean' code and 'misfire' code are different.

It gives the lean code all the time... Then sometimes the shuttering gets terrible and the light starts flashing which will last a few minutes and then it will stop

Ok so I checked the codes and I'm getting theP0171 and I believe the number is P0304, anyhow it's the misfire on cylinder 4 code. Also in my pending codes were P1315, igniter circuit malfunction. I'm lost to be honest, I cleaned the MAF, and check my plugs and

Ok I changed all spark plugs and swapped #4 ignition coil to #1 so see if the troubled followed, then today I bought a new ignition coil and replaced the supposed faulty coil in #1.... And now I'm getting a p0300 and p0301... How can that be? I've cleaned the MAF so should I go to the injectors next?

For 1st gens, I think only the 3.4's have a separate igniter.
