A great possibility, I mean. I have a 2002 Tacoma that's in absolutely pristine condition. I take it off-roading but it gets buffed and waxed after to keep it young and clean. So I do indeed care about that stuff. But I gotcha, I see some beat ass tacomas that I want. Haha

If you're still following your own thread... which has been hijacked by Anti-Generationalism, GenerationalPhobia, something like that. Anyhow....

Ultimately it depends on what your goal is. If you just want an aggressive look and aren't worried about 'function' you could just go buy some aggressive looking tires (KO2, Duratracs, Cooper ST Maxx, etc). A small block lift can be inexpensive and give you the look you want. More than anything though I think tires provide more "look" than lifts. And aftermarket wheels with a larger Offset (so tires stick out more) gives a nice aggressive stance.

However, if you want function I'd stick the block lifts and look at real off-road suspension systems like Old Man Emu, Fox, Icon, etc.

@nick_arce just tell us what you plan to do with your truck and we will help you out with reasonable ideas on what to do. Not everyone around here is a snob and like to help others out no matter what gen they are. So feel free to ask whatever questions you have.

Agreed. Most of us here on TW are easy to get along with and would love to give a helping hand. So hopefully all this didn't run you off. Haha. Welcome to the Tacoma world!

Welcome and congrats on the beautiful rig brother. There is a million options to go with. If you won't go 'off' much then you can do plenty. Throw a level kit and some 275 or 285 tires on that bad boy. The OEM suspension will suffice for your ride. You got a tough color. Do some black wheels and perhaps black accents and you will be in good shape. This can quickly become a competition 'with others' so don't get too caught up. Do what you like, enjoy what you love and have fun with your truck. Peace....

Not necessarily. A rear locked 2wd is very capable off-road depending on terrain.

Oh boy... You just missed the whole huge argument over that.

Long story short, everyone went against him and he got offline.

haha, yeah...I continued reading after I made that post and realized I probably should have read through the whole thread before saying anything. Oh well, my point still stands, I'm just late to the party

I had a Prerunner back in the day and went on a few runs with the local Yotatech crew, most of whom were 4x4 and I didn't have to sit out many trails. Before I installed the locker in it, I used to get stuck left and right though lol. It's amazing what having even traction in both drive wheels can do.

yeah, I got used to that mentality back then. I eventually got a 4x4 because I wanted to go even further, but I don't judge. If someone wants to wheel their truck, who gives a shit if it's 2wd or 4wd, let them have fun with it and learn on their own. We all have limitations with our vehicles no matter what our drivetrain is, doesn't mean we can't go out and have a little fun with it.

OP if you want to have a more aggressive stance you can level the front with Bilstein 5100s set at .85 instead of using spacers. You'll have a better ride but still have the look. You'd be surprised how much a set of new wheels and tires will do for a truck. Especially something that pushes the wheel further out widening the stance. You can see many different options on here, for tires there are many to choose from but going up 1 size to either a 265/75 16 or 265/70 17 will also help a lot paired with an aggressive tire.
