If you thought the 2.7 was amazing, you should try the 3.5. IMO there is no better truck on paper than the aluminum eco-boost F-150. The Tacoma is weak in comparison. However, a full size cannot navigate the technical trails of the PNW, and is more difficult to park in city/urban environments and will not fit in most garages. Domestic manufactures also will heavily subsidize their own vehicles. The F150 is the one of the most mass produced vehicles on the planet, profit margins can be exceptionally small.

New Frontier should be out by late next year. Probably will be a 2018. They really missed the ball, but I don't think they thought the midsize segment was going to blow back up again. The ranger should be out around the same time. I've heard about the jeep truck, no idea when that's coming. The Ridgeline should be hitting the showrooms soon. The Tacoma won't be changed for atleast 5 model years. I'm guessing they will start a 5-7 year changeover on them now. With all the competition upcoming They very well may do a 5 year model change. Competition is always best for the consumer.

I really can't picture the ridgeline being a competitor to the Tacoma, but that's just me.

Time for a Colorado diesel. The TFL truck guys got 31+ mpg hwy in Colorado in a DC 4x4 canyon diesel @ 70 mph.

Imagine what a more base model Colorado 2wd or extended cab could do.

Could possibly tickle 35 mpg hwy, that is pretty damn sweet.

Why? It has better HP, MPG, and payload. More cabin space because its not BoF.

Tacoma wins in offroad capability for the .1% who care about that though.

Different market IMO. The Ridgeline (which I really like and almost bought the previous gen) is for someone who needs a car 90% of the time and a truck 10% of the time. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

It seems the Taco is far more truck oriented which has higher payload (payload for the next gen Ridgeline has not been released--so going by previous) and towing. I've never seen a Ridgeline used as a work truck, but The tacomas are pretty popular here as a work truck.

... ^^^ ... I had a 2013 Ridgeline (MGM color) and I loved that truck. It had a large & deep trunk inside & under truck bed (stayed perfectly dry in there too).

Also, the dual action tailgate was super ... however, it handled and drove like a van on jello suspension (because it is on a van chassis I think). The full time 4WD (really AWD w/ a locker, IMO) was super in the rain too. Great highway vehicle, but my heart is in a Taco I guess.

If Honda got serious in pickup department, they would kick ass IMO. That Ridgeline was an excellent vehicle.

IMO ... best dealer service ever for me and best dealer service department on the planet was Honda at ... Gwinnett Place Honda .. (owned by Rick Hendrick, but he kept their original dealer name).

    ... ^^^ ... Z E R O problems with last 3 Hondas ... Z E R O ...

And I am a Toyota person too ... but the Ridgeline quality & great dealer service made it best "vehicle owning experience" in my life.

Now, that Honda dealer service department is very unusual here and many other Honda dealerships try to copy them as well as Toyota. Some of the other Honda service departments are just so so.

We have a '15 Pilot 4WD and I have not been able to find any problems with it! About the only issue with the car is it that it's a bit boring. ;)

At the auto show debut, they stated that the Ridgeline will have class leading payload. It will likely only have a 5000lb tow rating though.
I think the Ridgeline would work for me, as I'm not a hard core offroader. I may be looking at a new truck this summer, so I will be comparing GM, Toyota and Honda.
