I want a 6" suspension lift but don't want a messy drive, would like to keep it as close to factory as possible because it drives so smooth now stock. The truck will be driven mostly on street driving and all season mountain terrain. My 2gen had a 3" body lift that drove very stiff and rough. I want to go bigger and thinking new UCA's will help. Am I on the right track?

6" Pro Comp with Pro Runner Shocks (Can't really afford Coilover)
    and either
    Icon Uni-Ball UCA's
    or
    Total Chaos Heim Joint Pivot.

Would this be a good setup for what I want?

    I'll run 35's and 18x9 Rims

In addition, we are limited on 2016 lift options, should I wait on others to become available versus doing Pro Comp??

I like the add a leaf that BDS doesn't supply
and the ICON's are so expensive!

    Thanks in advance!! :D

You will probably not get a whole lot of help picking a 6 inch kit here. Not a lot of people do it because they all require cutting the frame. From my own personal experience on older chevy trucks pro comp is an ok company. Bds and Fabtech are much better. I believe BDs has lifetime warranties on all their parts. As far as ride goes they all should be close to stock due to the fact that they use drop brackets to lower all your front ifs suspension and keep the steering angles as close to stock as possible. And even with the 6 inch kit I have seen people have to trim to make 35s fit. Maybe someone with experience with 6 inch kits on these trucks will chime in. Hope that helps a little bit.

I can tell you that no matter how much lift you do, it will not continue to drive quite as well as stock. Just not going to happen unfortunately. If you're going to run 35s, you're going to want to re-gear because those are some heavy tires and you're going to feel it while driving with stock gears. You can definitely do it, and have it drive pretty well, but it's not going to be cheap.

Sorry I can't be of more help on actual lifts, but I just wanted to give you some points to think about.

TC heim joints are meant for a 6" lift.

Thank you all for your reply's! I do know the lift will cause a difference int he ride, I just don't want it bouncing all over the place and riding extremely stiff. I had that problem with my 2013 Tacoma riding hard and it was a body lift.

In addition, 35's are going to be heavy and I didn't know it would still require trimming! I do not want that on a brand new truck. EEK! Probably stick to 33's.

Do the 4" lifts require a cutting the frame? It seems like it is the same lift as 6" so I am sure it does.... ?

As far as I know, there isn't a 4" lift available for a 4x4. There are plenty of people on here who run a 6" Procomp lift and are happy with it, so I'm sure you'll be happy with it too. Do you plan do any off roading?

    Tuff Country has a 4"
    http://www.tuffcountry.com/lift-kits/toyota/tacoma/

but it says " New shocks are required. Kits with shocks include rear only." Which I am not understanding since the truck has stock shocks?

and Rough Country has a 4"

Yes, Off Roading will be done, probably not going to be big/medium rock crawling.

Unfortunately both the 4" and 6" kits require the cutting of the frame. This is due to the fact that the front differential needs to be lowered to correct your cv angles. The best you can do without cutting is a 3" lift. At that point depending on which wheels you choose to run 285/70r17 should fit. That tire is a 33x11.50. Stay as far away from rough country or tuff country. The quality is not there. If you are looking for an inexpensive alternative try Zone offroad. They are made by Bds, just does not have the lifetime warranty on the parts.

I'm a first gen but you could do a 3 inch suspension with a 1 inch body lift if you are looking for 4 inches?

Bds and zone both make a 4" kit which uses the same bracketry as the 6" kit. Only difference in the front is the 6" kit gives you an additional preload spacer to go between the top of the coil and top hat. Rough Country also makes a 4 and 6" kit but I wouldn't recommend them. If you do decide to go with a db kit stick with zone, bds or rcd.
I had the zone on my truck when I had it and was very happy with it and it drove excellent.

The question "why" comes to mind. If you like the factory feel, why do you want a 6 inch lift? To run 35s? Why 35s? Just looking for more info!

I agree I would not go with Rough or Tuff country. I was asking mainly if the 4" also required frame cutting. Thank you @Malibu7tss for answering that for me!

    @
Lux a 3" with a 1" body lift is an option that I am now considering. Sounds like the best option for less impact on the new truck framework. Is the 1" done with a spacer or block in the front?

    @
fishfinder I had a 3" lift on my 2013 and I wanted something bigger. I have been comparing the two 3" versus 6" and really like the look of the 6" better on the 2016 and to run bigger tires for a more rugged capacity. Again, I know that any lift will impact the drive, I want to see what options will LEAST impact the drive and will any added components help, such as new Uni-ball UCA's or .......... suggestions.
