I know it's been talked to death but...

...about this suspension TSB. Has anyone regretted getting it? Did it ride like you thought, not looked like you would've liked or force you to spend $ to raise the front? I'm just a little torn on weather to get it done or not. I usually ride w/ the bed empty but will load it up a few times a year. BTW, I definitely qualify for it ("06, 17750miles, 3 leafs, clean spots from the bump-stops, etc...) Just fishing for a few opinions, that's all. I'd understand if you guys are tired of posting about this subject. I promise not to bring it up again.

No regrets--I like the ride much better. Rides like a truck now instead of a luxury car although still not as hard as my 2000 did. (I consider a harder ride a good thing, and I miss the 2000 a lot although I love my current taco as well). That said, I also lifted it 3" at the same time as the TSB, so I can't speak to how much the TSB alone would have stiffened up the ride. I don't know how much my experience will help you decide, but my vote would be get it done while you are still under warrenty.

 

No regrets,tracks better over bumps,didn't want a full 3" lift,free aal,already orderd the 5100's for front leveling.(set at 1.75)I'll now clear 32's.This setup works very well for me.

 

Love it... would do it again... (I did mine after the leveling kit and the rear block spacer) rides smoother - Tows better and can actually haul a load.

I think without the TSB with a leveling kit the front end looks higher than the back end.

 

Get it done!! You won't regret it. And if you're worried about it being too azz-high, put some weight in it for a bit and let the springs settle. The rear will come down and it'll have a nice 'rake' to it (trucks are supposed to rake).

It rides nicer, feels better/firmer, and it's really not that much different in ride feel as it was....

You won't have to worry as much about carrying heavy loads. I finally put a scoop of mulch in mine and the TSB springs did GREAT and I'm satisfied.

I highly doubt the original springs would've handled a full scoop of mulch.

The tech at Power Toyota Tempe Autoplex warned me that the ride would be more stiff, but it feels fine. The tail is noticably higher, but it's fine. I was a little concerned that it might be something that I could regret, but after driving the truck I am happy with the ride.

I do now have the option of buying the cheap leveling front end lift spacers, but I am not sure that I need or want to. I plan to leave the tail high for now to see if it settles back down a little. It is a PreRunner, and I will be doing some desert running I'll see how it handles off road before I lift the front. The truck has 34,000 on it so it wasn't a bad idea to change the shocks, new bilsteins for free ain't a bad deal.

Thanks for all the great feedback! I'll be making my appt. next week for oil change, tire rotation, and let them know that my Taco "rides rough when loaded". If they give me problems (Toyo of Carlsbad) then I'll contact Toyo directly. I hope they don't since I do have noticeable rubbing from the bump stops. Thanks again, you guys ROCK! BTW, I won't forget about the alignment either.

 

They should automatically do the allignment as part of the TSB.

Atleast, they did it on mine without me asking for it.

Look at it this way.... If you don't like the way the TSB rides - you could easily swap springs with someone who is 'out of warrantee' and still has the original leaf paks. Or just buy something aftermarket and sell the TSB springs.

But - I doubt you'll dislike it.

 

Thanks for the offer! What all does it take to install a leveling kit? Doesn't the alignment need to be redone with the spacers?

Well I will have to put the leveling mod on the back burner for a little while. I am preparing to go on vacation at the end of August, and I am saving money for that.

The spacer lift advertised on this forum (Ebay) (See here:

says the following:

"These polyurethane spacers mount on top of the stock coil-over with no disassembly of the stock coil required. Kit comes complete with stud extensions and all hardware for an easy installation. The simplicity of a strut mount meets the ride comfort of polyurethane."

Why would I need a coil spring compressor? Anybody have bad things to say about this kind of levelling spacer? Do you reccommend another brand?

So Toyota will only perform TSBs if the truck is still under warranty?

 

What happens if the truck is out of warranty? They won't perform it? They'll charge for it? Do it myself?

About to buy an 05 with 56,000 miles on it in a private party sale...so obviously the factory 3yr/36000 mile warranty has expired.
