Alright, I broke down and bought a 1/2" spacer from Wheelers for the driver side. I'll move the 1/4" spacer over to the passenger side. Might as well do it right. That should hopefully give me the additional ride height I need with Bills at 0 while fixing taco lean. That means I have to drive around with the truck all jacked up in the front until it shows up. I was hoping to get this fixed tomorrow when I have the day off.

Hmmm... just set the driver side 5100 at 0 with a 1/2" spacer and I'm still at 25" hub to fender.

 

Hmm, that's strange. Did you drive it around a bit?

 

Not yet, about to do the passenger side. Maybe that's helping lift the driver side a bit?

 

The passenger side is 25.5" hub to fender currently.

 

Once you get done with both sides and take her for a run around the block take another measurement.

 

First off, thank you RogueTRD, you saved my ass once again. Hope I can pay it forward to someone else later. It sits perfect now. 24" hub to fender on both passenger and driver side.

I could feel the truck sink/settle the first time I turned the steering wheel left and right. Rides super plush now too.

I started the boot slide on the passenger side the other day. I stopped because I wanted to see how my boots looked after I dropped the front end. I think I'll do the rest of em. I managed to get the truck up to 70 mph on the freeway. No vibes. Didn't even feel like any were going to start. I'm pretty happy how it all turned out. Alignment tomorrow and the dents above the doors are next.

@carRamRod your truck looks awesome, did you end up going with the 275/70/17's? I am debating between 285/75/16 and 265/75/16 on mine once i replace the rear suspension. After some research i think im leaning towards the 265/75/16 from my 265/70/16.

 

Thanks! I got the 275's. I was a little hesitant because they only came in the E rating, but they ride great. The truck rode really firm up front after the initial lift install, but that was because the dealership pre-loaded the bilstiens. After I set the 5100's to 0 with top plate spacers and let the 885's stretch out, the truck rides great. No noticeable power loss compared to when I had the stock 265/70 r16's. The only rubbing I had was in reverse at full lock on those little mudflaps in the front of the tires. Removed the little flaps and vhWalla!... no more rubbing.

You said you were replacing your rear suspension. Do you have a/plan to lift? If not, I think the 265/75/16's would be a good choice. I think the 275's with a 2.5-3" lift look just about right with no cutting. I'm happy with mine.

 

@carRamRod Thanks for the insight, looks great. I currently have the Iron Man lift in place, i'm swapping out the rear leaf packs which have flattened and sagged over time with a full Dakar OME leaf pack. I was going to run 285/75/16's but im not super keen on running an E tire and i don't want the truck to look too extreme, so i was looking into a 265/75/16 which will give me an added 1'' or so in diameter, 1/2" in height, from my stock 265/70/16 and round out the look of the truck while remaining drive-able, commutable, and proportional and still giving the truck a beefier look.

Looking for some images of Tacoma's with 2"-3" of lift and 265/75/16's - i know @RogueTRD had some in a previous thread and the truck looked very very nice.

Thoughts and advice are always appreciated, pictures as well!

Be sure to put up some pics when it all gets done. Oh, and btw my full pack of Dakars gave me 25" hub to fender. That's without 3 degree axle shims (didn't end up needing them) and a truck cap. Not sure what your front measurements are, but Dakars give a lot of rear lift. Of course you could always remove a leaf or top overload.

I've got Baja Racks on the cab and shell and couldn't be happier as I had a Baja Rack on my FJ; however, I just helped with a Prinsu install with the light bar and it really is a beautiful rack with its adjustability.

 

Thanks! It drives so much better with the upgraded suspension. It might be awhile until I get the roof rack. I live on the golden coast of the hood and my truck needs to fit in the garage. I clear the door by like 3 inches. Might be a little tight.

My sliders finally came in! Just finished sanding them and they are currently hanging in my attic waiting for paint.

Since the dent repair kit I wanted is temporarily unavailable, I bought a BlueSea fuse panel mount from Pelfreybilt. Figure I can work on getting that installed piece by piece. There is so much more I want to to do to this truck. I'm convinced with my luck, it will be in a wreck or stolen the minute I'm finished dumping cash in it.

 

Just curious, how high are your Baja Racks from the roof of your topper to the top of the rack? I'm still leaning towards Prinsu, but yours look like they sit a little lower.

 

Not sure but I'll get outside a bit later this morning and measure for you. The topper rack has all kinds of adjustability in the feet to help it fit all different brands and heights of toppers to make it flush with the cab rack. If you're not planning on running a cab rack, you can get the topper rack with the air dam on it and probably set it to its lowest setting.
