Mine had moisture in it as well, major reason why think Toyota changed the programming for the 13'-up trucks and left us with 2012's stuck with an inferior part.

I'm going to call the dealer again tomorrow and express my displeasure with lack of coverage on this issue including the fact that they tried to charge me $700 for the valve assembly. I work for a Japanese based company that puts their customers first and number one focus is on customer retention. Toyota operates differently I guess. I'll also write a letter to corporate and see what happens with that. At this point just refund me for the price of the part and I'll feel better about Toyota again.

I love it! I did everything you stated above, no refund yet. But the more of us that continue to express our dissatisfaction maybe we will receive reimbursement and owners going forward will actually be taken care of!

For my truck it had thrown the codes when I was at 29k miles, took it in to document and when it failed outside of the 36k sorry about your luck! So I know how you feel.

May I ask you all your trucks born on date? I ask because I want to compare yours to mine. I also notice that BMW and Jetta have this problems too.

I've only found 2012 trucks with this issue. I'll look at my build date later.

Yep only seem like 2012 trucks, 13-up trucks have two differences I have noticed: 1) the pump itself has an insulated cover 2) the pump is programmed to run briefly at shutdown to evacuate moisture.

My CEL came on and gave me codes P0412 and P2441. Both relate back to secondary air injection, specifically the valves. My understanding is that the secondary air injection is really just for emissions standards, and that continue to drive with these codes being thrown won't damage the engine. Am I correct in that understanding? The engine is still running fine. How long can I wait before I go the route @njdevil316 went?

Are you in limp mode? If so, I cleaned my valves with electrical cleaner and got 6 months of no issues. Came back on next time but never limped so I left it alone for a while. Just recently replaced the valve myself

So...2442 code set at 60k mikes on my 2012. Was able to clear the code for a few weeks, then 2440 hard set. I pulled off the valves and cleaned them, flipped the retainer piece over to block the valve off in anticipation of performing the resistor bypass mod. I hook everything up before I start on the wiring portion and crank the truck up. No codes, drive it, no codes... Should be throwing a stuck closed code... Confused, but glad it's running. Truck was cold, 70°F outside.

It's funny - and by funny I mean infuriating - that it just happens to take a shit when our powertrain warranty is up.

Toyota wont cover it under the powertrain warranty anyways so it doesn't really make a difference. It is very interesting though like you stated that once the 2012's are getting 50-60k miles on them we are experiencing this failure..Toyota knows what they did.

My idea and you .....stole it o_O. Hope it works out in the long run. Last week I open up the pump and happy to see it was clean and dry. One thing I notice on the Tundra forum that their engines were very dirty/dusty. Since I clean my engine once a year in summer, I don't know if that helps the pump clean and dry. But I will modify this crap filter by using motorbike filter. I did not have a gut/time on motherday weekend to open up the valves. What did you clean them with, carburetor cleaner or....?
