Your tent has actual memory foam? I thought the RTTs all came with closed cell regular foam.

the foam inside the green cover definitely feels like memory. it might be closed cell tho. :notsure: all I know is its not supportive enough. lol i need some extra padding cuz I can feel the floor through the mattress sometimes.

Definitely not memory foam. If so, it would flatten too easy and we'd be sleeping against the metal floor more than the current pad already does. I feel the floor on mine, too. It's more comfortable than sleeping on the ground of course, but that extra 2" of foam should be heaven. Much better for colder weather, as it adds more ability to trap body heat beneath you. I always end up sweating in my RTT anyways!

I sink down to the floor everytime.. its a weak ass foam, thats for sure. I've been wanting to make something here at work. would be stupid easy. one of these days I'll tear that foam out, get Dims, and cut my own.

A single piece of 4" thick closed cell foam would probably be the max that would fit. It won't have a pretty dust cover on it, but foam can be taken out and hosed clean and then air dried. Just gotta keep the sand out of it and from under it so it doesn't break down over time.

My wife gt a 1" memory foam mattress topper off Amazon and shoved it in the same cover that the RTT foam came in. That worked amazing and can still fold it up with our pillows and bedding, plus keeps thing from sliding around HERE

I come over here from expedition portal and see whole threads about the expo! Stoked for this event, and I won't have to travel 1500 miles this year to make it finally.

Hope to meet some of ya'll out there. Are a lot of you camping on site or in the forest nearby?

I'll also be coming to Overland, and camping there in my Wildernest. Just watching all this talk of mattress foam, am I the only one who hates memory foam in my camper? If it's cold, then it's hard as a brick, and if it's warm, I sink to the bottom. I need to pick up some CCF one of these days...

There is a memory foam at Costco that you flip between seasons

I have the 6' ARB awning. It has some minor wear and tear but it has done well. I bought it used and have already put 2 good years on it without any structural issue. There are 2 tiny holes right where it connects to the truck, but those are from me rolling it up crooked and the joint slowly wore away at it. It's on the far right side in the corner, so it doesn't interfere with coverage.

Sounds good to me. This expo will be my first time trying out the new foam topper, and if it works I'll use that for as long as it holds up.

I considered memory foam, then I thought of how heavy it is. It's already a dog to take the RTT on and off between trips. I can't fit in my garage with it installed because my bed rack is already cab-height. My stepson can barely lift his half over his head without anything in it already. I personally find memory foam to be too hot, and I don't like how it sinks. I want loft, baby!
