Eye-to-Stem Rear Shock Adapters

I've been searching for rear shocks for a while now, and I was wondering if anyone has any input on the eye-to-stem shock adapters? Basically, this:

Running something like this would open up a whole bunch of shock options, without having to do a shock relocation, which I don't have the time or skills for

I believe running something like this would add an inch (length supplied in the Q&A section) to both the collapsed and extended lengths. a couple options that might be usable are either the 9" 5125 (15.11" coll/24.35" ext) or the 9.8" 5165 (14.6" coll/24.4" ext) - add 1" to the numbers for the adapter.

As far as the non-adapter options, the cheapest route is to just go with the RCD 5100's (16.34" coll/27.28" ext) which doesn't require the adapter, but does have a pretty long shock body. Or spend a little more and get the Icon 56503/56503R-EXT shocks, but I thought someone mentioned that extended length shocks aren't warrantied or something?

dakars w/ the top overload removed, AP flip kit & superbumps, but with 255/85's - pretty similar setup as mines. I pm'd him and he said so far it's worked out for him.

@deeezy - was it you who mentioned the extended travel icon warranty? who else runs extended icons?

 

Yup, anything other than their stock replacement length shocks, there is no warranty. It is then classified as a "custom" built shock. If you check, most vendors have a disclaimer for these extended length shocks that mention the non-warranty. I'm not positive that this is for any other brand than Icon. I would check with the vendors to see if the other brands (King or Fox's) extended travel shocks are non warranty too.
