    Those are two different things. They are often confused, and I think some people on here are talking about rip current. I'm talking about the out-flowing water under the wave surface (the force you feel when standing in the water on your feet/lower legs pushing offshore). I got swallowed up in a wave after trying to dive into it so I wasn't tossed around like a rag doll and it didn't go as planned. The force of the wave was pushing me inshore, and the undertow was trying to push me out which essentially had me doing flips underwater to the point where I didn't know which direction up was.

    I'm a fourth generation Floridian, and had to look up the definitions. I've always used "undertow", basically like Allenfab uses it, the returning water that can sometimes suck/knock you off of your feet and pull you out a bit. Rip ride/current it's more a strong surface pull perpendicular to the beach as well, but narrow, fast and strong. Some definitions use the terms interchangeably. in any case, both are to be watched out for, and both are to be worked with as opposed to against. Go with the water, maintain orientation, don't panic, and swim at an angle out of the main pull of the water, even if you have to swim out further than it would appear if you tried to swim straight back to shore, or even at a right angle to the pull/current.

    That may be a separate issue, but I dont get voltage at the connector on the bumper when brakes/turn signals are activated.
