I'd be lying if I told you I never shed a tear or two while reading your post. In a perfect world every dog would have a home, and every home would have a dog.

    RIP Molly.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I read this post and tears came to my eyes. All i could do is think about how hard it would be for me to lose my dog Turbo. He is my best friend and I know he will one day have to leave me. My heart goes out to you and your family. I would give up all my christmas joy to bring Molly back to you. Just know that she is so grateful for your care and love and will never forget the love you gave to her.

I'm kinda new to this forum and I don't really know anybody on here, but like many others, this brought tears to my eyes also. Although I don't know you or your family, I can, watching my own dog lie on the floor, feel a tremendous feeling of loss for all of you. I'm very sorry.

Often times the bond we share with our pets transcends even that of even our human counterparts. Losing one of those friends that become so close to us is truly devastating. Living with and appreciating pets is an honor for most humans to have. Despite what you know or do, who you are or will be, your pet will always be there for you and love you. I'm sure wherever she is, Molly is still there for you, and she'll always love you.

Missed this one. Sorry to hear of your loss Chris.

I know they break your heart in the fact that they don't live long enough for us.

But then dogs, unlike people, already know unconditional love and devotion when they are born so they don't have to stay in this world as long as us. That just doesn't make it any easier.

As someone who has three dogs who are members of the family, I'm very sorry to hear this. But, please, if you can't really, really tell that she isn't suffering, call your vet and ask him to make a housecall. You can hold and comfort your companion while the vet administers the solution, and it's very, very quick... you'll be surprised how gently they will pass. I guess everyone's different, but if I knew they were just laying there dying, I don't think I bare it, for fear they were suffering. I don't think you can tell just by looking, ask your vet... It's hard, but don't keep her there because you can't let go yet.

    stock, for now
I still cant belive it Chris..We had to put our 10 year old Sheltie down this past January. I cant believe its been almost a year now, and I walk by her ashes(she was cremated) every day. When I heard of Molly passing, a few days ago I went back and found my post about my old pup, and tears started flowing like it just happened. I dont know about you and Julie, but our house seemed so empty without a dog. It will help you guys to get another puppy, but only if your ready. I think it took my mom like 2 months to get another sheltie.

Yeah....I swear I can somtimes see her walking in the house. The silence is the hardest, as she used to bark at my every movement, and follow me where ever I went. Yesterday, I ddid some work on a members truck, and when I came onto the patio to put my tools away, I looked for her face pokeing out the window at me.....only to not see it. its still hard. I really apriciate all the support though. Thanks again.

"Thank you for your sympathy. She passed last Tuesday. The Dr. arived just before she passed away. She was not suffering."

Sorry Chris, I didn't know she had already passed. Very sorry for your loss...

I should say that I'm a member of our local Humane Society, and also volunteer for animal rescues. I was down in NOLA only a few days after Katrina, even before many of the Red Cross and NG arrived (one of my dogs came from there). And in doing this all these years, you wouldn't believe the cruelty and abuse I've seen by people to their "best friend".

So, as hard as it is, you have to remember that many animals out there never see the kind of love and care you obviously gave Molly. So, you should feel happy about the great life Molly had with you, and the special bond you both had. I've been a dog owner since I was born (my parents got me a collie puppy when I was a year old), so unfortunately I've had to say goodbye to a few of them, and that's what gets me by - but, I know it's still tough. :(

When you're ready, you definitely should look for another doggie companion (maybe a shelter dog?). I think it would help heal that wound from Molly, though not a replacement, and it would allow another great relationship to begin. And, you'd be helping another dog in need, and I'm sure Molly would approve of that. ;)

Chris, I'm sorry to hear that Molly has passed. I know that she was family to you and this entire community. She definitely was an icon and mascot. She will be greatly missed I'm for sure. Word cannot express the pain I'm feeling for you. Know that God has her in a better place and you will be reunited with her in time.
