On note of alignments, anyone here had any success with Firestone lifetime alignments? I'm thinking of getting one after I do my lift

 

I got a good set of guys at NTB that do mine. $179.99 three year plan. They dial it in right every time.

Could you tell me which location it is? If it's reasonably close I may consider it just for the good reputation they have. It seems so many people get shafted with alignments

 

It's the one at woodhaven rd and RT 13 in Bensalem - right off 95.

 

I had great luck when I lived in southern VA, of course the boys who worked there all drove lifted trucks or aspired to do so.

Here, not so much. The Admore and south Philly locations I went to are crap at Tacomas, probably great for dropped civics though...

 

Feeler...might anyone have an interest in a set of 5 cooper at3's LT265/75R16 LR:C. Low miles (less then 10k)

I had Es on my Dodge.

 

I like them. As can be expected no where near as stiff. Handle weight well and arent bad as a daily driver tire with no weight.

I appreciate that Joe - I'll be ok if I can just get the weather to cooperate... Honestly this steering thing has me more concerned than the axle.

 

Honestly, it's just kinda wandering everywhere. Sometimes pulls left sometimes right. Mushy.
I've got a feeling the 35's killed the steering rack.

 

Tie rod inner & outer are solid - no play. LCA's have all new shit. UCA's are lubed & tight. Unless I'm mistaken - and I certainly could be - I think the rack is just shot.
I'm also clueless how to swap that myself.
Good news is I can get a replacement for $150 - $200 so that's not too bad...

 

I know they had to pull the steering rack to get the oil pan off when I had that problem a while back...
More than likely I'll have to get my father-in-law's shop to do it.
I simply don't have the time.

Is there play in the rack itself? If you pull the boots off the inners and jiggle the part the inners are attached to is there vertical movement? Can you throw a camera underneath and watch it when you rotate back and forth? Not sure how different it is on second gens but pulling the rack isn't bad, only dealing with the rusty input shaft is.

 

Can't answer that yet. Need moar investigation...

 

Even then, I can't get past 1.5 of Caster. That's with 2" of rake on the truck.

I have a suspicion that the guys claiming 4deg of Caster have a bit of Bro-Dozzer going on.

 

@PSU Taco85 has around 3 almost 3.5 last I checked... I mean last time I got a pick of his alignment stats was like 2 years ago when I went to get mine done and asked what his were...
