Got a buddy that just got a slingshot to start benching with. I've never used one, but heard good things about them. He went from struggling with 315 for 4 without it to hitting 315 fairly easy for 8 yesterday with it. I understand it's supposed to help with more volume at heavier weight, which helps wth strength, of course. Anyone used one over a long period that can provide long term results? @t4r4life don't you use one?

Do you guys find working out solo impedes your progress? None of my friends workout in the morning. I'm an early bird who likes to excercising fasted.

depends what kind of "progress" you are looking for.. if you are looking to burn fat and lose a few pounds, fasted cardio is good for that..

if you are lifting weights; fasted.. you are literally wasting your time.. you will do more damage then benefit.

I like to work out in the morning too.. but only on the weekend.. and when I do that, I am sure to be up at 5am and eat, and then again at 6:30 so I can lift at about 7:30-8.. and even then, I am weaker then on days that I lift at 4pm with 4-5 meals in me

just sayin.. fasted Lifting is counterproductive

I know they make you go through classes and stuff prior, but someone can still just sit there and not do the work after. I know peole who have done great with the bypass..on the other, one guy was 400 prior and got down to 250 but put it on and more because he got complacent.

I'd say 80% of the time I work out solo. I think I get more done to be honest cause I can just put my head phones on and focus. I get distracted too easily. Same reason I DON'T like working out with a bunch of hot sloots around. I spend more time watching then lifting and that's counterproductive to my time.

I find I get my best work outs when there is someone there who is bigger and stronger than me. Maybe it's just a mental thing but I have always tried to be competitive in everything and I feel like I play to my competition. You lift heavy I lift heavy. You lift light maybe I don't try as hard.

That's how I am. If I know I have someone bigger and stronger with me, I'll try to get closer to what they're doing and I know I have a spot in case I start dropping shit. Plus I don't want to look like a little bitch

I work out alone basically all the time. The same core group of guys is in there when I'm there, so I know if I need a spot I can get one from someone I can actually rely on. I prefer working out alone. I can go at my own pace and block out everything.

So had my first real 5k today and let me say this. It was a lot more than I expected. From getting there seeing all these people fit and ready to tear into the side of the mountain and me feeling extremely out of place. To one point I literally started walking back to my truck from feeling extremely uncomfortable around all these people and athletes. To talking myself into getting back to the starting line and doing the best I could. I should have trained harder but I finished 146 out of 550 runner through the woods and over obstacles and through mud bogs etc. the next one I am definitely going to put more work in.

5:30 am getting ready to leave

Seems legit. Does one need the epic facial hair in order to sustain such an extreme athletic level?

Just left the gym. Me and some buddies stayed to watch some of the basketball game and shoot the shit after we got done actually training. One of them said he could out-dip me. I said ok I don't think so, but I also don't care. Which led to him saying ok, probably not, but I can do more weight than you. Which I also didn't care about. I forgot about it until we were about to leave. He decided he wanted a competition. So he started throwing 45s on the belt and doing dips. It was a terribly stupid decision, but I ended up getting 4 plates (just for a single dip) to his 3.

Stupid thing to compete in, but damn it, when you're challenged,
    You gotta show up.

Dropped 225 on my chest yesterday during bench. I was at a different gym than I usually lift at and the benches are different. Went to re-rack the weight after my set and the pins knocked it out of my hands. No one was around so after I was able to breathe again I pushed the weight up and re-racked successfully.

I'm lucky it didn't fall on my head or neck.

Today my chest feels like it did after I got in a bad motorcycle crash 3 years ago.
