Yeah the kirk guy who likes to steal Amsoil, his profile and threads are still here, and he's perma-banned. There was a lot of drama involving him. So to you have your profile nuked, must have done something awful..

I don't think I've met him. A lot of people are different behind a keyboard.

That sucks. Don't want to see anyone get banned, but if they're dicks, then... you get what you deserve.

You're embarrassed about penis size? I thought you were Korean, not Thai.

Met him at the April meet. Seemed like a really nice guy. Quiet.
The first banned happened from partaking in a bit of drunk posting, I think this may have been the same thing.
I think the mods gave him a "two strikes and yer out" kinda deal.

I spent today car shopping which was fun. I ended up driving a 300ZX non-turbo and sat in a C5.

I liked the ZX more, I think. It's smaller and plays well into my love of everything 90s JDM. The specific one I drove was at a dealer in Warwick. It looked great in photos (although I didn't like the color) but so much was broken on it when I drove it, which honestly surprised me. The power seat buttons were missing, the door pulls were broken, the steering wheel leather was peeling in my hands, etc. The trunk didn't latch and it had the beginnings of rust, but it was a great, great car. I could totally see myself in a TT version that was in good shape.

The C5 I looked at was at Avon Auto Brokers in Brockton. I wanted to take it for a quick test drive and was told unlesss I put $1,000 down, I couldn't drive one. I nearly walked out before I even sat in one. The salesman told me that the owner "doesn't want to put miles on the Corvettes". I totally get it when the car has 6,000 miles on it, but when it's got almost 50K an an accident on the CarFax...

So I sat in it and sat down into a broken seat (it swayed) and realized it was the biggest POS ever. I noticed it had LED rope lighting in the trunk area. The GM interior curse struck the Vette hard! So I left there and drove down to Plymouth where there's a Corvette dealer specializing in stupid low mileage cars and I figured I'd check one out to see what that's like. It's a whole other story, I actually dug it a bunch more than I thought I would.

If I were a betting man, I'd say I'm most likely going to end up in a C5. It will be black/black/6psd unless I find a blue/silver one for a silly low price. I never thought I'd actually say that, since I used to be SO anti-Corvette.

    50K for a C5? I could have bought one with an LS1 (not the LS6) for 21k about 10 years ago. I'm sure even a loaded C5 isn't still going for 50k.

The twin-turbo Zs are nice, but, finding parts can be tough, and it usually means if one turbo needs attention, so does the other.

One of my co-workers has wrecked about 5 of those cars.

    50,000 miles, sorry.

I love the Z, because I've always liked the high end Japanese sports cars (Supra, 300ZX, NSX, etc, etc) but I have such a loathing of rust, finding a truly rust free car will be tough.

My thought is if I found the perfect Z, I'm going to pay the top of my budget, and then I'll be afraid to drive it. If I spend a few thousand more for a C5 that's in great mechanical condition, but maybe has 40-50,000 miles on it instead of these 6,000 mile museum pieces, I'll actually drive it places and maybe get into auto-x, etc.

I know the 3rd gen Z was good for rusting in half. Dunno if the 4th gens are better.

Absolutely. I'm specific enough now to know exactly what I'm looking for and what I want to pay, so it's a matter of finding the right car at the right pricepoint.

They all rust. I'm trying to find one that's never seen winter owned by someone who hopefully hasn't seen that the market is trending way up.

I thought everyone was into the 70's Japanese cars? Seems to be what's trending in my area.

Across the US. I do agree that the 70's / 80's Japanese stuff is re-appearing. I'm waiting for the second wave of 89-95 Hondas to come back, then I can re-live my high school days.
