Well, they're a dealer so I would assume/hope that they have the right tools. Anyway, I'll take it up someday where I don't need to get it back right away, which can be any day really because I have my HD2500 and a Harley Fat Bob to scoot around on, and let them do their thing at their leisure. But thanks for the clarification!! A lot of good info on here for sure.

My Tranny fluid was low and they topped it off, no charge. Also turned the seat belt chime off, no questions asked. Irving, TX Toyota.

That's incorrect. Regardless if they have the right tools, which they do, the trans can only be checked during certain temps. You cannot accurately check Tacoma trans temps coming straight off a normal drive and operating temps. This is why it's required to leave the truck for a few hours. Every single one of us that's actually had our trans checked by Toyota have all gone through the same process. There's different mechanics and play at work with sealed transmissions.

The fluid needs to be between 104-113* for the level check. Dean is correct.

Coming home from a game tonight my radio stopped working. :annoyed: No audio no more. WTF!?!?

I was planning on doing my 5k rotation / oil change at home because dealers around me are not that great... but now I have a reason to go in.

Well, I guess the radio and my transmission that SLAMS into gear now when it downshifts sometimes, or lags for what seems like eternity when going from reverse to drive. Although from what I read here, I don't expect them to do anything on the transmission. Already had the fluid topped off (was supposedly 1 qt low) at 3k. Starting to wonder if they really did that, or just told me they did. <sigh>

Is this thread supposed to be therapeutic? Cause it ain't workin.

    Yes it is therapeutic.
Solutions to 16+ issues are bound to make you feel better.
Isn't there a new flash (software) available for the trans?

No, I wasn't aware there were any updates that were real. Incidentally, my radio works on its own again.

I'll ask when I drop it off for the 5k service. Thanks!

First off, I love this truck. I have the manual so don't have the shifting problems. Have had no vibes, no kazoo noise, no shuddering when coming to a stop. It has been a great truck for the 3k that I've had it.

So I go to put a cd in the cd player for the first time. Disk played fine. Listen to it for about 30 min then go to eject it and nothing. Makes some noise Like it is trying to eject but just wont. And the disk will not play again, it just says disk error on the screen. Well I use another disk to stick in the slot to eject the first. Comes on out with a little persuasion. So I get a new disk and try again. Same thing, plays fine at first till u try to eject, than get disk error. So I got that one out to and have not tried again. Anyone else have this issue?

I stuck some Ritz crackers in my CD player. Thought it might warm them up.

    Wrong, here it is

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cNcecuGzTDg

Toyota Corp has tools to check the fluid at all temps. But whether or not the dealers have the tools is another story. Why save time when they can charge more by keeping the vehicle overnight.

I saw this and needed to reply.... I-10 in Baton Rouge essentially goes to one lane in Baton Rouge at the Mississippi River. I get to cross the Mississippi River every day. The vehicle change I recently experienced has made that commute a good deal more tolerable.

I really like this Tacoma so far.

Im curious how many of you with tacoma issues have a truck assembled in mexico?
Ive had my '16 limited 4x4 (all stock), for 5 months and 8000 miles, and its my 3 rd tacoma and 7 th toyota.
that being said this has been the worst toyota I have ever owned and quite possibly my last. (unless the trd pro 4runner I have a deposit on arrives soon)
the worst of my complainst are that the truck wanders and will follow every crack or rut in the road with occaisional bump steer
the 3.5 lacks low end torque and as a result the transmission shifts constantly and the mileage sucks above 70 (15-17 mpg)
my 2012 4.0 6speed averaged 19.5 on the same trip that im basing mpg from at the same speeds
and the wind noise from the drivers door accompanied with an ocaisional high pitched scream when driving into the wind over 70.
overall I love the look of my truck but I hate the way it drives and the 3.5 is a terrible motor for a truck.

That's only for frontwheel drive transaxles as he specifically stated. If this were to apply to rear wheel drive transmission, he would've pointed that out.

From above @moab4x432 "the worst of my complainst are that the truck wanders and will follow every crack or rut in the road with occaisional bump steer"

Have the alignment checked - specifically the caster setting. Too much caster will cause the symptom of following ruts.

I'm over 60 too but it based on your posts to several of the threads in this forum I'd say you need to drink a few ounces of it.
