Interesting thread. I have also tried different USB's and have formatted them several times with no luck. My camry read my usb perfectly but this tacoma will not read over 400 or so songs and it picks and chooses which songs it wants to upload into Entune.

I had a similar issue with the truck reading a USB. I tried everything formatting, reformatting using no folders, using only numbers instead of song titles finally I just gave up and bought a different USB. Then with it i simply dropped the songs right onto the drive no folders truck read it just fine. I have no idea why it wouldn't read from the other drive besides maybe it just didn't like that particular drive.

The one I use is a Scandisk 32GB the drive the truck simply refused to read is a Gorilla Drive 32GB.

I have read that Etune can be really funny about the file names though thus far the Scandisk has been perfect I simply drop the MP3 into the drive and its all good.

its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
you can upload music from YOUTUBE but you have to convert it to MP3 I use this http://convert2mp3.net/en/ converter after its converted you SAVE AS(right click) DOCUMENTS file, then with the USB in the computer COPY TO USB device. I used this video as a guideline it works great.

Yes this is a very interesting topic, I too am struggling with the usb issue. When I first got my 3rd gen Tacoma in the beginning of March I was getting 999 that is right and I was upset because I thought that was not enough as my 2011 Escape and my 2012 Tucson both played well over 1600 which I had on my drive, do I came looking around and I was sure I saw somewhere that if you put them in folders you will get more. So I did this, not sure if I got more or not so I thought I would just have to drives with 900 or so songs on each. So I put on of the new drives in and now it read 499. And like you say it chooses which songs to display. But if you browse by artist, they are all there.

Have you updated the entune software? I remember seeing somewhere that entune was having issues reading a certain size storage and an update corrected the issue.

If it's anything like a Lexus, it HAS to be formatted on a Windows PC. Formatting it in FAT32 on a Mac will not work. I'm sure if you RTFM, it will show you the hierarchy and file system the truck will recognize.

Well the type of phone matters too.. Specially since youre running beta software. In a different post one of the members and I compared nptes on phone connected to entune. He had an pixel first and pics would not load, then swapped to iphone and everything was perfect. I used a nexus, then an lg and saw inconsistencies with bluetooth.

Anyway, when I first got my my radio on my tacoma and then prius (I know) most of my issues went away after I updated the software. I think its at 5.02 or something like that.

As a follow up, I did not update the software as I have not seen anywhere that anyone has said that the usb issue has been addressed in any way. Also the Entune app on Google Play only has a 1.5 rating and seems to load a bunch of crap onto my truck that I have no use for (Pandora, Iheartradio, Yelp, NPR One etc...). I just went back to the two folder system and at least have 999 songs. Will just have multiple drives with various songs on each for now. I also have tried many different sizes ( 8gb 16gb 32gb 64gb) as well as different name brands (I spent over 5 hours last weekend messing around with this (and even went to Toyota last Tuesday,l with no help from them). So for the time being I think our only hope is contacting Entune and hoping they will fix this issue.
