    Hi everyone I am from Costa Rica and just bought a Tacoma 97, gasoline, 4WD, manual.
    After I reduce to 700 rpm the Oil Light goes on when the car stops. The oil level is good, it have new oil pump, new oil filter base and new oil filer cap. Any suggestions what can be the problem?

    how many miles r on it?might have a bunch of sludge built up in the heads(oil return holes) not allowing oil to drain to bottom of motor.or just a bad sending unit(which tells the light to come on).

    Pull the sending unit and hook up an oil pressure gauge to ensure that you have proper pressure at idle.

    If your oil pressure is OK on the gauge (not sure what it is supposed to be). I would consider replacing the sensor.

    Is this a 4 banger or 6? Aside from tearing it down, you really can't get it all out. One thing that will help is switching to a synthetic oil and increasing you oil change intervals.

    Seafoam in the oil will help get some of it out as well.

    X2 on the Seafoam. It has the directions on the can for this procedure. I feel it is best to do it right before you do an oil change.

    I am sorry, but my English is not that good, what do you mean with Seafoam in the oil? Is this an additive? Or really you mean foam from the sea.

    Yes it is an additive. We get it here at autoparts stores in the states. It has many uses for engines and does a great job of cleaning. If you use it to clean the throttle body via the brakebooster vacuum hose, it will create a lot of white smoke. That is normal. If you are familiar with youtube.com, you can't search for a seafoam video and see it in action.

    Sorry, Seafoam is an additive, you can find it at Walmart and some auto parts stores.

    Sorry about that Mario, I didn't realize that you were in Costa Rica. I would start with the oil pressure check and go from there. If your engine has been well maintained I doubt that you have a sludge problem. You can remove the valve cover and give it a look. Hopefully the issue is just a faulty sending unit.
