Ordered a new Tacoma this week, SR 4x4. Dealership told me it's gonna be about a 5 month wait. About to be the longest 5 months of my life. Anyone else had to wait this long?

huh, I'm not familiar with it myself but that sounds right for someone ordering a TRD package with a manual transmission in a specific color maybe, but an SR? Did you request a certain color that's hard to find?

Here in SoCal you might have to wait on a 4x4 just because they're much less common on the lots out here, but being in the bay area up north I wouldn't think that would be an issue.

In any case, congrats on ordering your new truck!! I'm sure it'll be a long 5 months lol but it'll be worth it. After I bought my '04 a couple months ago, I had to wait a month for the dealership to locate certain parts it needed before they could hand it over to me. Longest month of my life, I can't imagine having to wait 5 months

First off congrats on making the move!

But, dang! 5 months  I'm not sure I could personally wait that long. I don't want to try to sway you towards something you don't want/need, but it might be worth considering upgrading to the sr5 -- I know Hansel toyota in Petaluma has a couple sr5 4x4's on the lot (and plenty of Trd's & limited) I recommend their sales dept, just not there service dept.

I didn't think that long of a wait existed for an SR (I've never looked into the SR). Either way, the wait for any 2016 will be worth it in the end!

    GO SHARKS!

I ordered and picked up my Quicksand TRD Sport 4x4 DCSB in March and picked it up in April from San Francisco Toyota. Not sure how much harder it is to build a SR though.

Dude...you ORDERED a truck from the factory, that means it has to be sent in from the dealer, put into the system, built, then shipped to the dealership behind what is already on the line. You're lucky it was a Toyota and not a Tesla otherwise you'd probably be waiting much longer.

    Mostly stuff I built.
Mine took 171 days (5 months 19 days) from order date to delivery date. How ever it was well worth the wait and I have exactly the truck I wanted.

5 months?!? It took 11 weeks to get my boat from start to finish and that was an eternity! Surely there has to be a truck somewhere in the system.

I was under the impression toyota doesnt take orders, they just make what they make and dealers have to trade with each other to find a specific truck.

you have to realize he's ordering an SR in 4x4 trim. most SR are 4x2 (currently usa inventory is at ~500 vs ~297 for 4x4).

you didn't specify I4 (drops it down to 189) or V6 (106 in the usa)

5 months puts you into October and the 2017 model will be on the dealer lot by then. You will be buying a 1 year old model at that point. Be conscious of your cost vs value gap if you finance the purchase.

I ordered my TRD Sport DCLB 4X4 on 31 Oct and picked it up from the dealer on 26 Dec. Five months seems a bit long to me. Perhaps they are under promising and over delivering? :fingerscrossed:

It sounds as though the dealer may have run out of allocation on Tacomas and you will be waiting on a 17. If you're looking sooner try a different dealership willing to modify a truck in allocation. I know that is how I got mine. It was a 6 week wait.

Shit, by that time the 2017's should be rolling out and hopefully have some of the bugs corrected by then.
