Yeah I'm surprised too by this... but I am a "car guy" and I can assure you that my Tacoma has zero steering wheel / pedal vibration... at any speed. Maybe it's luck.

Can you both try what I asked a few posts up??

Touch the fuel line that runs by the driver side wheel well. You can just put your finger on it through the little protector flap towards the back of the wheel.

See what I posted a few posts up, I feel the buzzing in the fuel lines.

How are you feeling the buzz? Just at idle?

Yes, just at idle for now.

It is more prevalent when the truck hasn't warmed up yet and it is idling higher, but you can still feel it when it has warmed up. But it is definitely in the same frequency range as the steering wheel/pedal buzzing. I can feel it all the way up to and on the engine and all the way down to the gas tank.

Drove to work, left it idling, touched every brake line and fuel line on the driver side wheel well, and the steering column. Solid as a rock with no vibration. Hope this helps.

    Bingo, thank you.

I will take pictures of the lines I'm talking about when I can for confirmation, but I'm sure you are talking of the same. They are pretty obvious as they run under the driver side and are easy to trace.

But where is the vibration originating from?

Can you pad the fuel line with foam insulation?

Well that's my next step, I didn't want to dig into it too far if everyone, buzzer or not replied and said their fuel lines buzz. I would still like a few more people to touch the lines and see how theirs feel.

Unfortunately I feel it up on the engine too, so it doesn't rule out the fact that it could be an issue up on the engine. But, it goes all the way down to the gas tank, which is a pretty long range for the vibration not to damp out.

I'll look into it more, I'm going to remove the plastic engine cover and make sure nothing is grounding out there. Simple things first.

But, if this is repeatable with those of us that have the issue (fuel line buzz) and those of us that dont (no fuel line buzz), this should really help make a case against toyota or help a good service tech isolate the issue. Especially since nothing has to be torn apart to feel it, heck the hood doesn't even have to be opened.

I will go as far as a can with it to rule out simple things, but I'm not willing to drop my gas tank and replace the pump or tear down the engine yet.

If it is grounding out against the chassis, yes. However the bend by the wheel well is close to the exhaust so if I try anything there it will be high temp/fire resistant material only.

This is great work, i will feel mine when i get home today (i have the vibes). One test to see if they translate to the wheel/pedal is have someone tap it with a wrench whil you are seated..

Earlier posters and myself found that the brake lines that run along the firewall for the entire width of the engine bay are felt directly in the wheel at the same frequency when tapped.

I have grown tired of chasing this and was going to see how new models play out. If new ones didnt have it, the next step would be compare part numbers. I feel that it is an exhaust issue resonance issue at the headers. I have removed heat shields, unclipped brake line holders with no avail.

Hope it is something relatively simple though. Thanks for looking into it!

Now that you mention the small diameter rigid brake line, I do remember grabbing one line near the driver side that had a flexible hose and similar style line and it was buzzing hard too. But I traced it down the firewall with my hand and it seemed to stay on the soft pad on the firewall. It didn't touch any metal. I will look into that one too.

I traced the other brake lines and they were solid, zero vibration along the firewall (all while engine idling of course).

Went to dealer at lunch. The SM that is a Tacoma guy and on this board drove my truck. He acknowledged the VIBE. As I came to the possible conclusion as seen in my other posts he thinks it is exhaust harmonic vibrations. He Checking with toyota corp to see what they say. Also ?"He said he has two engineers looking at another problem in Cali and mention to them to look for the vibe"? He is willing to try clamp on dampeners and also thinks it could be the honeycomb in the cat loose or maybe muffler. As I said before if driveline why would it go away when in neutral at any speed meaning rpm related. Poke around and see you feel the same. We can charge toyota for the fix . lol

You seem really motivated to fix this as well. Can you look into what I've been writing about above on this page and the last with the vibration I'm feeling in the fuel lines? Maybe i made your ignored list and you can't see my posts.

Although I won't rule out exhaust, the buzzing vibration I feel in the fuel line around the firewall, chassis and up to the engine feel much too similar. Plus the exhaust on mine feels pretty dang stable and looks well isolated from the frame/body.

I can feel the engine idling thru those lines.

Ok, I will verify if I can feel it on the one that runs the entire length to the passenger side. I could be mistaken, I was grabbing a lot of lines and brackets yesterday

It is definitely in the fuel line but not as prominent in the brake lines beside them (these are the same lines i was referencing earlier).
But the vibration feels like the same freq as idling.. Maybe it gets so bad at 2000rpm that it is felt inside.. I would think we would feel it at idle as well.. Idk. Hopefully you are on to something. I would really like to feel not a nonvibe trucks lines in person.

At idle I can still feel the same vibes in the steering wheel, more so when the truck hasn't warmed up yet and the RPM'S are higher, but it isn't anything near what it is when driving.

I think something is causing it to be excessively amplified or resonate against the firewall/chassis under certain conditions/fuel demand.
