    Hello All,

First off let me explain my situation at hand. Yesterday while in the middle of several mom day events my 2014 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Auto 4.0L left me stranded. So after going to the gas station for gas for lawn mower i came home turned off truck mowed grass got back in truck 2 hours later and truck would not start. I have 12.5 Volts at the battery 12.5 volts at the fuse panel When i try to start it the battery light on dash flickers the tach and speedo needle jump up and down, frm 0-500rpm and the speedo from 0-5mph not much but its noticeable. The truck will not turn over or even click. I tried moving from Park to neutral to start Nothing. Out of the 10 times i tried this i had trouble getting truck out of park twice. Head lights do not illuminate. Also while starting it the clock and the battery light, Door ajar light go out complety. it acts like my battery is completely drained but its not i have 12.5volts? Im thinking a bad connection somewhere or maybe a fuse-able link? I really didn't have any time to look into it yesterday. But i figured i would jump on here and see if any body else has run into the same thing.

The truck btw has only 27K on the dash its still in its warranty but my thoughts are if its something simple like a plug loose or bad connection etc. i would fix my self Towing to a dealer and dealing with the dealer is a big hassle these days.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Internally shorted battery. 12.5 V with no load really means almost nothing, loading one tells all.

    Once replaced, check alternator output.

So do you suggest before I run out and buy a battery removing alternator lead then testing battery again? Or have someone start car while I check battery?

Do the head-lights work as bright as they normally do?

I would remove, clean and re-attach the battery cables. Then try to start it .
If that fails. Swap in a known good battery from another vehicle and try that.
If that works, then get a new battery. Wouldn't that be under warranty?

The head lights dont come on at all. The battery connections pos and neg are both clean as a whistle and tight

I'm going to call toyota Hopefully they will pay for the tow as well. I really dont want to have to trouble shoot it i work too much as it is
Not sure if the battery is considered normal wear and tear or if its covered you would think a truck thats only 2 years would be covered

Battery should be covered under 3/36. That's definetly what it is. You have a bad cell

Battery Warehouse, our local battery store, has a device that checks for bad cells. As far as I know they do not charge you for a test, no pun intended.
