Aside from barely being able to see out the rear view mirror. I often forget mines there too, until I try to look behind me.

I recently installed a Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized on Leitner Design Cargo Bars and noticed that it is causing a slight dip in the bed plastic where it meets the cargo bars. Does anyone have the same problem? Is there an optimal distance between bars to support the tent while causing as little stress to the bed as possible?

Same, but it makes the cab darker which I like, no head lights in my mirror
It was pretty bad for me.. Dragged the tent through so many branches from it being so high

Do you have a picture of the bed rail?

It's actually not bad, I thought about that. Can't get an action packer out but can get my grille or propane bottle etc.. But on the flip side it blocks people more from trying to grab things out of the back if I'm in the grocery store or something.

How much weigh can the bed truck walls hold? i have a bed rack with a high-lift jack, axe and a shovel attached to it, plus my RTT on top of it, all this is permanently on the truck.

which truck do you have? 95-04 have metal beds, 05+ have composite. I've seen much more than what you have on both, so you don't really need to worry. but many of the more elaborate 2nd gen racks tie into the base of the bed (or frame) if you're worried about it, and it's truly permanent, that would be my suggestion.

I have seen those from VooDoo, but aren't they just a replacement for the factory plastic ones, i dont know if that is gonna help with the weight?

It disperses the weight along the whole bedside. Plastic flexes and will cause pressure to build in one spot. The steel won't flex near as much and will allow more weight to be added on.

I'm sure you would be fine without it, but better to be safe than sorry in my opinion.

All depends... You should build some support legs that touch the bottom of the bed... Take the stress off the bed rails

IMO - over time I think it makes more sense to get something that is supported somewhere other than the bedsides. I think it's only a matter of time. Personally that's why I went with the BAMF bed rack.

See if a local fab company can reinforce it

how are most of you guys adding lights to the tent? I want to add some inside, under the overhang, and on the ladder for those night trips to the little boys room. Just wanted to see others ideas and all. Im thinking of having some switches in a project box on a plug inside the tent
