Looking at buying a Tacoma

Hi all,
So I found a Tacoma for sale on CL and I whent to look at it. It was at one of those hole in the wall dealer ships and the first thing I noticed when I went to look at the truck was that the seat belt was all tore up, it also said sold as is no warranty.

It was a 2002 double cab prerunner with the I4 it seemed to be in good shape, but I could not find any one to take it on a test drive. The frame had almost no rust sence it was a FL truck It only had 75000 miles on it what do you all think its worth? I also email the dealership 3 or 4 times about the car fax and never heard back. I'm a little unsure on if I should call and ask for a test drive or pass on it.

I also have a concern with the I4 not have enough power, I would like to pull my ski boat weight is around 3500-4000lb. If it cant do it I would have to use the work truck witch is a reg cab full size and I would like to have a excab or 4 door to take the boat out. Thanks

 

If you are towing, i'd probably opt for a 6. I think the 4 will tow it though, just that you'd enjoy the v6 a lot more if this is primarily to tow your boat

 

I'd pass on any dealer that was less than up-front and available. Seat belt can tell you a lot. You already know what to do.

 

100 bucks says that truck has a salvaged title. I'd steer clear.

And if you can see the VIN in the windshield you can run the car fax yourself.

 

If you're gonna tow, don't get the 2.7. Especially with an auto trans. I did, and it's a dog compared to the 3.4

 

If you've had no response , move on, no sense beating a dead horse....
