I think manufacturing date on the recall was to October 2010. My trucks build date is November 2010...oh well.

Would've been nice to have the Dakar's paid for...

Found an older model that still has the 128 gb capacity.. If this leaf spring check works im gonna get all the parts for the install

 

well the 6" spacers are ordered and the transmission and front diff is ordered

 

Someone was selling everything for the iPad swap including the iPad awhile back

Fyntuned was making a kit for awhile but was pretty pricey

 

yeah.. i think i'll be happier just fabbing something up.. got the tools for it. Just dont have anything to bind abs plastic

 

I used super glue to get it the way k wanted and then jb weld

 

a heat gun will work

 

When I was thinking about doing this, I was going to wrap the iPad in plastic wrap and use it to mold fiberglass to the face plate. I may still try it one day, it's just not on my priorities list at the moment.

Just get a double din bezel. I cut 1/4in all the way around and fabbed a slider from pieces of plastic. Took a day

 

Initial plan was going to be:
Wrap iPad in plastic wrap.
Lay up a sheet of fiberglass and coat it really well.
Figure out a way to suspend it, like over a shoe box or something, and lay the iPad onto it so it would make an impression where it would be flush all the way around.
Then form up some sides to mate it to the bezel.

Not really sure how well it would work, but I think it would. Even if it took a few tries.

 

We bought a lifeproof case for the ipad we have. It came with a "dummy" iPad shape inside. I also thought about using that. I wouldn't want to ruin a $500 iPad with fiberglass resin.
