Add a leaf is vastly superior to blocks. A progressive 3 leaf add a leaf (toltec/wheelers/icon) is better than a single leaf. Blocks will cause significant axle wrap.

Best way to lift the front is with coils. Not spacers.

AAL adds a little meat to the suspension's ability to handle a load. Not a lot, but some. If that's not a priority, and you only need an inch or so of lift, not a great deal of difference one way or the other. If you do anything to stiffen the front suspension, it's a good idea to balance that with a stiffer rear leaf. ie....AAL is better. Just throwing on a set of top plate spacers on the front, blocks aren't so bad in comparison. New coils on the front to get lift? I'd go with AAL (@ a minimum)

"Best way to lift the front" is with longer coils. Avoid just adding preload to existing coils. That adds lift, but adds to rebound and creates possible problems for rebound dampening in the shock, which in turn gives you a "jackhammer effect" on the front end.
