My order was over 5 months.

Typically it's 3-5 months for an order requiring approval. Guys who get them in less time got lucky and snagged a truck already en route or already scheduled for build and wasn't claimed.

If a dealer has a truck that has not been claimed by a buyer who has put down a deposit then the truck order can be modified. The color and options can be altered. In my case the dealer was due a TRD sport dclb 4x4. I had them alter the order to change the color and add the premium tech and jbl. Toyota approved the changes and the build date never changed. The changes were requested by the dealer about a month before the build date. It's an easy process for a dealer who wants to make adjustments for their customers.

I'd check with the dealer that gave you a 5 month delivery date and ask them which year it's gonna be a 2016 or a 2017.. I'd be pre-ordering a 17 at this time. They will be out in mid September same as the 16 model. I saw my first 2016 access cab 4x4 Tacoma today on my way to work... looked pretty nice!

OH Yea.....I am getting conflicting information because I had two dealers tell me you can not order a 2017 right now. Toyota will be taking orders for 2017 in August

I got mine right after they first came out, *ordered* in early October and took delivery in late November. No reason you should wait that long if you're willing to travel, buy a one way ticket and pick the one up somewhere else, take a couple days off work and road trip it... weather is nice this time of year. (It's not really ordering because you can't Order a Toyota...they just pull from dealer allocation)

Would suggest waiting for a 2017 at this point.

actually orders for next year start in may-june since march is end of the fiscal year for Toyota.

orders for first run of a gen start in may-june but dealers usually wont see it in the the system until about late july or early august. just depends on the dealer. exclusive Toyota dealers and big volume get first dibs.

if the dealer is not exclusive (they sell more than new Toyotas at the same lot) they get pushed back to the end of the line.

2nd year of a gen you can start putting in orders for fall delivery around july (really early) but most open up around august/sept for next year models.

So are you saying Toyota allocates every single Tacoma configuiration and color. I was at the dealership two weeks ago and I had the dealer look around the country for a V6 DBL CAB, OR, Silver, 4x4, LB, TOW Package, PT/JBL, Mud guards , and weather mats. This configuration could not be found no where within the US. He told me it would have to be ordered and will take two months for delivery.

You can't "order", you can only request to put a deposit down on a dealer allocation. Toyota Dealers don't order trucks.

They will do as I said. Modify an allocated truck to fit what you desire and it should be accepted by Toyota and then the wait begins

You keep jumping on me every time I say i'm getting a 2017. I ordered/requested whatever a 2017 Tacoma from one of the largest Toyota dealers in the nation. I've been ordering new trucks from them since 1985 and they have never ever let me down. I just got my 2016 trail special order from them also. I tend to believe them more than you. Tacoma order banks opened one month earlier this year for some reason I don't know why I don't care. Their timeline is order banks opened in May production should begin in July and I'll have my truck in August as a 2017. let's wait and see how it plays out but for now leave me alone on this issue . Order your new Tacoma however you want.

    Looking at 2017 Taco!
none so far....need to get one first!
maybe they are just over-estimating to not disappoint you!!???

Like when the family went out to breakfast one morning, we had to walk a block to get to the restaurant, step-son asked "how far is it?"....I quickly replied "2 miles!" He came back and asked "why do you always say a longer distance than it really is?" I responded "well if I told you it was 2 miles and we walked less, you'd be happy that it was less, but if I told you it was 1 block and it was actually 2 blocks, you'd be pissed....thus you will be happy as it was less than expected!"

Speaking of skills are you ordering a truck ? or just running around telling everybody that they can't order one. This is for people who are actually serious about ordering trucks not fantasy orders. Put your money where your mouth is and order up a 2016 , which u can not do.

Were you making payments on it the whole time lol? Or just a deposit? I would put 500 to the side each month and throw that chunk at it if you only had a deposit down on it
