Winch Controller Location

So I am looking for some input and suggestions on re-locating the controller for my Warn M8000 winch. It is currently mounted to a section of the frame just below the winch which is on my front bumper. I recently purchased the Pro-Comp front skid plate so in order to install it I would have to drill an extra hole into the plate to allow for the mounting of the control box back in it's existing location. The other option is to re-locate the control box into the engine compartment which I know that some others here have done, but then would look into using a wireless controller to make it more convenient. Any thoughts, or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Could you get to it behind the grill maybe?

 

Yeah, maybe black out the W, and remove the cover to the plug so can just reach back and plug the remote into your grill?

Only thing I can think of with that plate bumper.

the engage switch thingy on the winch.

 

Nice idea I hadn't considered that area, it would be more convenient that further back in the engine compartment.

I have mine located behind the intake tube in the engine compartment. Keeps it dry. Lift the hood, plug in the controlled, close the hood, hop back into the truck.

Looks like where you have it you'll beat it to death on a trail.

 

I have mine mounted right behind my grill, mounted to the white piece of metal that extends from one headlight to the next along the top portion of the grill area.

I can reach through my grill and plug in my winch. I'll take pictures in a little bit.

 

Thanks for the suggestion... I am still debating between behind the grill & up in the engine bay. Some pictures would be great!

 

Thanks a lot for the pictures, I think I am leaning towards the setup you have. I know that I will need the longer 2G wires were they something special from warn or just standard style cables? How hard was the relocation? Thanks in advance!

Did you ever relocate your control box? Just did mine here are some pics...

 

My control box is on the driver side wheel well under the hood wired directly into a roadless gear winch control panel mounted on the center console.
