Picked up "Sandy" (Quicksand TRD Off-Road 6 speed manual)...Dean Mahalati (Ohio) awesome sales rep!

So I was reading a 3rd Gen forum on here...and read how someone had recommended Dean Mahalati from Toyota West (Columbus, OH) as a sales rep. They said that he is THE GUY to go to when ordering or looking for a Tacoma / Tundra. I gave him a call...told him I was looking for a specific Tacoma...2016 Double Cab TRD OffRoad in Quicksand...with the Tech package and a 6 speed manual. I had dealt with other dealers and like many of you, got the run-around as to how long it would take, if they could get one at all...dealers wanting sticker price, etc.

When I talked to him, he put the order in for a build within a few days...and less than six weeks later, I had "Sandy". He said that they take $2,500 off sticker on a TRD w a manual and $3,000 off sticker on an automatic. That's the best I have found anywhere. In addition, he kept me updated on the status of the build and was an excellent communicator as to the entire transaction. No hassling me on the price. Very simple, and to the point.

I arrived at the dealership to pick her up this morning. It was all cleaned up and in a secure and separate garage bay. He even threw in a real nice Toyota baseball hat that matched the color of my truck. Who does that??

I told him and his finance manager (Fred Rawlings) that I have bought numerous new cars over the years and never did I have such a positive experience w/ a dealership / salesman. His manager explained to me that Dean is very knowledgeable and knows his job well. Point being, he knows his product!! I'll point out that I drove two hours to buy from this dealership, and I certainly would buy from them again. If you're looking for a specific Tacoma, I would highly suggest looking him up. I am having the same awesome experience with Dean as well! I'm just north of Dayton and had called probably 5 Toyota dealers and went into 2 of them. Nobody wanted to get me a TRDOF m/t let alone anything else once the m/t was mentioned.

Called dean on a recommendation here, he walked me through anything and everything I wanted, sent me pictures of both black and gray interiors as I wasn't sure which one I wanted. Put $300 down to have him order it on May 2nd. Was told 8-9 weeks (fine with me) then the next day he told me it'll be ready first week of June!

He was very upfront with the price and included all costs with no hidden fees, or costs. I got the same $2500 off which is more than fair most dealers wouldn't negotiate off sticker.

 

Your info says you got the jbl... How'd you do that with having a manual trans? Dean said its not an option for manuals to get the jbl.

 

Yeppers. I think he actually mentioned you today when I was talking to him. Lol...we were talking Tacoma orders like mine...awesome guy. I bet you're excited!

 

I just updated that. This does not have JBL....cannot get JBL with the manual tranny...I found that the non-JBL system actually isn't that bad. I may try to add a powered "slim" subwoofer under the seat to add some lows to the sound overall...

 

Probably haha I'm very excited to get it. Wish he wouldn't have told me beginning of June and left it 8-9 weeks then told me all of a sudden it was there.

Ah okay I was just making sure. I asked about getting it.

 

Wish they did offer it...but nonetheless I am very happy w it...

I wonder why they're discounting tacomas at all.. down here in texas tacomas are the very last to ever get a discount.. if ever. but congrats to you!
