Fair enough. Was exact opposite for me. My new 12' was an Auto and I hated it from the get go. Confused and jumpy transmission IMO.

I'm sure one of us can send you a manual access cab Off Road. And you send us a manual double cab off road!! Taco swap! Lol

Front.jpg I drove my 2003 for years and was actually a little emotional when it came time to let her go. I was able at least to sell her to someone I know (so know she got a good home). But I am getting close to a second retirement and didn't want to get stuck with an older vehicle etc, so bit the bullet and dove in. So far I am extremely happy with the 16. A very nice driving and riding truck. Plus the red was something I had always wanted as well. One concern was the measuring of the garage to make sure it would fit since it is a bit longer. But since that turned out to be in the front it was no issue.

New here! Picked up my truck about two weeks ago. I had a 2007 4Runner years ago and had a 2012 Jetta TDI since then. Sounds like VW will buying that back!! Picked this up! So happy to be in a truck. image.jpg

This is not true. My truck does none of the things you have described.

My dealer is saying my Super White Access Cab 4x4 should be here around the 20th. I'm super stoked. Getting an ARE overland cap to go with it so me and the old lady can start doing some "overlanding."

I think Super White is a cool color, it's slowly been growing on me over the years; and I think it looks especially sick with some bronze wheels. Almost got another MGM but they were bringing it in from another dealer and the deal fell through, which I'm kind of happy about in the long run as the MGM had the premium tech package and running boards, neither of which I want. The Dual zone climate was nice but I could give a shit about the blind zone monitoring or the back up beep beep thing... Pretty much the whole package.

I've got the ultimate blind spot monitor, it's got tiggle bitties and sits in the right seat.

I second that Opion mine is wicked it does make noise though .... Sounds like a truck if you want super quiet buy a old man Jag! I came from second and third gen Honda Pilots super nice ride soft buttery leather on my ass. But now I realize what I was missing in the SUV ... A Truck!

Buy the Taco you won't regret it all Trucks / Cars have some quirks the Pilot had a wierd thump when the engine cut down to 3 cyl but our family used that Pilot and loved it quirks and all.

I've got about 2.5k miles on my 16, ac, 4cyl, 5spd. I'm loving it so far. The engine noise is about all I hear going down the road and it sounds great. I've got an mx canopy on the way and am working on a swing away carrier for a 1up bike rack. I'll keep it relatively stock for a while, I mainly bought it for camping and mtn bike trips. I've got a built 84 yota, a 1 ton diesel, and a dump truck at the house so my bases are pretty well covered as far as road tripping, wheeling, and pulling. Although I can't help but think about putting the 32-11.50 duratracs from my 84 onto the 16. It would look great with the black wheels and some tint.

LOL - that's me...I have 2 VW diesels. Waiting for the final shoe(s) to drop. Unless VW makes me some absolutely killer deal, I plan to add another Toyota to the stable (have 3 now).

I have to agree with you, the Super White Access Cab is a nice truck! I'll check out those ARE caps since I'm thinking about getting a SnugTop.

There's positives in both 2nds and thirds. I like it that you can get the long bed on the TRD OR now and the new interior is nice also better color choices. The 2nd gen grill looks better imo and at least at the moment I'm higher on the 4.0 could change my mind though. I would buy either before I would even consider any other truck in the mid size segment.

I just have to note. It is so crazy that Tacomas retain their value so well. There is a 2011 pre-runner with 136k miles for sale at a dealership by my work...for $16k! Just blows my mind. How did this happen and will the 16's follow suit?!

Ford gave Jim 37000 for his 16 limited. He'll man 1st gens still fetch quite a bit. Look for yourself on autotrader.

That's just crazy. It's my first vehicle that I can sell for more than I bought it for.

Holy smokes. Should have read this first besides the post that said "read here first 3rd Gen". How can so much vitriol be spewed about a truck? I haven't checked this thread since I posted my "fan boy" picture next to my new truck I bought with my hard earned cash last year. Since that great day I got a nice snug top cover and BedRug liner. Dog and I like it. Wandered about our local (relatively) Sierra and truck was sweet over the winter. Just real solid in the snow in the places around Bishop where we like to go. Went to Utah (Escalante, Maze) in March and all I can say is I wish I had more time driving in the cockpit and sleeping in the bed.

    A. You didn't miss anything worth missing. In fact, you're probably smarter for it.
    B. Very nice pic.
