Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Had flywheel turned, i didn't want a light one and it was still in excellent shape.

Throw out bearing i put in the URD one with the sleeve, so that it wouldn't be a problem in the future.

Yea the clutch only chatters in first when towing and it very well could be something with the transmission. I have a full ceramic in my 85 and its never done that. Only thing i could think was the fact its got kevlar on one side and ceramic on the othwr. But no issues with the clutch and it doesn't slip.

This rejecting gears and grinding thing is driving me insane. I have owned tons of manual toyota trucks, this is my second 6spd and never had a problem with syncro's or grinding. Had the main bearings go out at 180k on my 85, and 5th gear break in 2 on my 81. But always after many miles or tons of abuse. The 5speed in my 2008 was great.

Meh, it's too early to tell about that lol. I'd put money down that the new 6 speed has its share of issues too. It's really starting to seem like Toyota really rushed the 16's out to the market with out proper testing. I mean, the issues coming back is shit that should have been caught early on, not just random quirks that consumers notice. It's really disappointing, I mean, giant grill aside, it's a pretty good looking truck, and I had somewhat high hopes for a newer power train. But to go down in displacement and LESS torque for a TRUCK, just blows my mind. I know I know, same old arguments, but still lol. Just rubs me the wrong way.

    I have the same opinion.

I believe it could be great, 1st gen tacoma had similar sized engine and the 5vz was a good engine. But i am sad that its a step back or down from the 4.0.

I hate the bigg ass grill, but i do catch myself seeing the new ones and thinking man that looks nice. I love the interior minus the push button start. But i do not like the grill at all.

Your in luck. The manual does not have a push button start.

Yeah I drive by 3rd Gen's and catch myself thinking I like them, the body lines on the cab back are great, then I catch the grill in my mirrors (Or at least part of it  ) and come back to my senses. Then I drop it to 4th and let them eat my dust

Actually in all honesty I haven't found a 3rd Gen on the road yet willing to try to gun it on me...maybe someday...

Yes...the manual is the way to go for so many reasons. Mentioned above is the fact that it doesn't have that push button start. Annoying to say the least. I'll take an old school key start any day of the week...and for less money. And if you lose one of those key fobs, I hear they're big money to replace. Gay. So gay. Love my manual.

Dude, I rented a Buick when I dropped my truck off for some work (Wanted the Charger but when I showed up to pick it up they said they were out and gave me the old mans car)....I fuckin spent like 15 solid minutes trying to figure out where the key went in to. Turns out it's just push button start and the key fob has to be inside the vehicle or it'll shut off. Thanks for telling me, asshole in the renters shack laughing to himself.

I had no idea the 2016 automatics came with a push button start. That alone would be a deal breaker for me (having a push button). That's great news that they didn't put it on the manual transmission models though and just one more reason why MT reigns supreme.

After a two month wait we picked up my girlfriend's 2016 5spd SR last Saturday. She almost caved and got an automatic so she wouldn't have to wait, but she's so glad she didn't. She's a manual girl, through and through.

Yeah I thought I'd like the automatic but I hated it. Mine came 1.5 quarts low on tranny fluid (like many of them did), and when going from R to D during cold start, the thing was ridiculous. Almost went thru the mailbox a few times. Revs way too high and you're fighting the brake. I've owned automatics before. This is NOT normal, no matter what anyone on here says. So happy to have a manual...

Did you look at other trucks before deciding on the MT? What made your stick with the 2016 taco given your experience with the AT and the 3.5 engine? Were you able to test drive an MT?
