I am coming from Texas, hitting Rampart, picking up my dad at Colorado Springs airport, taking Goose Creek toward Tincup Pass to get to Taylor Res, then off to Sheep Creek into Moab. At least that was the plan.

I've got one of these and absolutely love it.

It's not exactly back pack friendly (bit bulky and heavy), but for car camping, or trail camping where you walk maybe 1/4 - 1/2 mile from car, it would be perfect.

Ok, rant time, I took this picture on my way to work this morning. It is a 4runner, mildly built, company logo on the side for some home builder. Guys probably a contractor or something.

Well he has a 4x8 of plywood on the roof that is only tied down by a SINGLE RATCHET STRAP 3/4 the way to the back of the board. He was going 60+ on hwy36+ i25. The front of the plywood was sometimes more than 2' above the roof.

At an on ramp I pulled next to him and got him to roll down the windows (after he heard my horn over his earbuds in both ears) and just kind of shrugged when I told him what was going on.

Later I saw him open the sunroof and try to hold it down by hand.

Don't use Cabella's for Fly Fishing, they are clueless. BassPro has much more knowledgeable people if you are not interested in a true fly shop. Really no price advantage going big box over Fly Shop, they all sell for the same.

These days the tech is there in Rods that you will not notice a big difference between $300 & $700 rods, but Warranty wise there is. I say go with a local Wright McGill starter kit for around $120 (includes almost everything you need to get started other then waders).

Waders are wear the high end ones are worth the extra spend, also real important given the water temp you will be in most of the day. News ones even have zip down flies but still don't know anyone who has them yet in my Club or TU chapter.

You travel half across the world with 10+hr plus time difference and hell of a jet lag. You go use the bathroom and see this!! I freaked out!!

Also when you flush the toile it flushes counter clockwise being below the equator....whole new experience when you didn't sleep for 48hrs travelling.

I borrowed one, we just couldn't get a great tune on it. Not sure why.
    Eventually!
I'm leaving to texas on Thursday. I wanted to try and get it tuned by then.

We were getting a ratio of 3:1.5 on ch40 and 3:0.6 on ch1, so I thought he needed to lower the antenna, but it was already as low as it could go.

Mounted on the driver side hood hinge.

What he said! When we were talking to each other I could barely hear him on my radio even with it turned all the way up.
I was just about to ask you. I couldn't remember the exact numbers.

It is not grounded. Scrape paint off to start. If that doesn't work you will need to start bonding panels.
