My explanation from the sales person I dealt with was that it was a cost added into the invoice price to provide the dealer with advertising money. They also told me that the holdback is money that they get back off of invoice price. It was an undisclosed amount.

You can find hold back all over this site. I forget what it is.

Oops, yes, TDA is money that the regional distributor or Toyota charges per vehicle to advertise for Toyota dealers in general in that region. You'll hear ads like, VISIT YOUR LOCAL SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TOYOTA DEALERSHOP TODAY. it's that money for those general ads.

Hold back is money that Toyota gets to play with until the end of each quarter. Then they cut each dealer a check and the owner buys a new car for themself....It's a huge amount of money

    Sorry

Base Price Increase? I ordered out a TRD Sport Access Cab (7560), and of course the pricing isn't firm until the vehicle is built. Supposedly, mine was built Saturday the 7th. In March, the base price was $30,893/$32,950 Dealer/Retail....now it is $31,230/$33,310 according to the "Dealer Daily Vehicle Details" sheet my salesman provided to me this morning. Toyota.com still is showing the lower pricing.

Anyone know the difference denoted by the letter suffix in the model code? For instance, 7545G vs 7545J? I noticed the base MSRP changed. Does that imply anything other than the price difference?

only thing I can think of quickly is that the letter denotes model code year, "G" standing for 2016 and 2017 should be "H"

The 10th character of the VIN number signifies the year....for 2016 it is "G". I think the letter designation after the 4 digit model number may signify the month of production....it doesn't show up in the VIN. I looked at the specs of a TRDAC a few months ago which had a Model Number of 7560G and Serial Number GX023651. Mine was built last Saturday, exactly the same truck ...it has a model number of 7560J and serial number GX033361.

Good info, the tenth VIN digit is still "G" for the 7545J. Makes sense too.... if production started in Aug 2015 (7545A) then May would be 7545J.

Did you get the March prices in writing? I would never order a vehicle without the prices in writing. That's just dumb

It was an "orderOut". The deal was Dealer Total Price less the 2% holdback. Wisconsin law permits increases in manufacturers prices to be passed along for an "order out" where the pricing is not guaranteed at the time the contract is signed. "

    1. Motor vehicle dealer licensees who accept offers to purchase

from private retail purchasers for new vehicles not yet in the

dealer’s inventory shall, in the following statement to be completed

on the purchase contract, check box A where the manufacturer,

importer or distributor has a formal policy of not accepting

retail orders as described in this subsection, or where the manufacturer’s

suggested retail price of an ordered vehicle of the upcoming

model year is unknown; or check box B where the manufacturer’s

suggested retail price is unknown as in the case of a newly

introduced model: Order−out vehicle not price protected.

    (Check A or B)"

My contract had Box B checked. I'm still getting it at Dealer Invoice less the 2% holdback. Simple purchase, 45 minutes from the time I walked through the front door till I left. I am more than happy with the deal.

I might be on the wrong thread but is it possible to get the same data for the 2nd Gen Taco? I want to upgrade to a 2015 TRD Sport DCLB in Magnetic Grey. Im not to fond to the 2016 yet.

WOW! since the Gen III was introduced I have looked occasionally at dealer stock when having my 13 serviced or just in at dealer to check new model out and see what model/color I want when I get my new one (most likely waiting til fall '16, so will be a 17, unfortunately doubt I will be able to get a TRD /PRO.) I have rarely seen much inventory of the new gen Tacoma's, and at times even the larger dealers have been down to zero in stock & few on incoming list.

Mid April I had my Tacoma serviced at a pretty large Toyota Dealer and they only had one Tacoma in stock, then last Saturday I was at a Denver area dealership, and was amazed, never have seen this many '16 model Tacoma's. 98% of them were double Cab Off Roads, in every color but Barcelona Red. They had something like 15 or more in stock, not counting two I saw in another area marked sold! This dealer stocks a ton of Toyota's and probably earned a large allocation of Tacoma's from Toyota, they move inventory fast, so probably wont last all that long, but still have not seen this many previously. Dealer was Mountain States.
