My kings did that. Turned out if you loosen the collar too much it will jump threads and cross thread.

They will do that if you don't jack the front end up so there's no weight on the tires

 

I jacked up the front end and lubed up the threads. I ended up bending it back and gripped it horizontally so that the wrench is parallel with the ground. My hands are pretty sore but at least coilovers are adjusted!

 

what do you mean gripped it horizontally so the wrench is parallel with the ground?

You know how there is the C part on the end? That little nub goes into the collar on the shock and the C wraps around it. Did you end up putting the little nub on the end in the collar and try to turn it that way?

 

Towed sonar bouy or a V1 , IDK

 

I've done that.. lol had to have them compressed to seat the collar.

edit.. nevermind.. Didnt see the other end. lol

 

The "C" part of the wrench would not fit around the collar because of the resi hose so I used the opposite end.
The first pic is the grip I initially used. Easy to grip but structurally weak.
The second pic is the "parallel to ground" method. Using this method, the wrench didn't budge and I was able to complete the adjustment.
