Oh thank God...well ok that was most of my fears... well I guess if none of that passes through the ECU then using the stock LS1 stuff shouldn't be any issue... Many thanks!!!:D

Don't get me wrong, I love what is being done with the V8's but my dream is an intercooled Buick Grand National V6 sitting between the frame rails. One day, perhaps. I can dream.

Or you could have a turbo-ed LS motor and have 2 extra cylinders and a better power curve. That thing had a 3.8 V6 with 250hp and 350tq, and that motor is all Iron, super heavy for what it is. However it got that car down the track pretty good back in the 80s, haha.
An LS with mild boost has no trouble making 500hp all day.
I am going to be adding a turbo in the next year or so, going to be around 600rwph, Im at about 400 now N/A.
But it would be pretty cool to see that swap with a beefy turbo on it, anything with a turbo really is awesome in my eyes!

At this point a n/a 3.8 would make me really happy.

I dont think that makes as much as your 2.7, I doubt it would..the stock 3.8 is a serious slug. The GN motor had different internals to be able to handle boost. The NA 3.8 probably makes less than 140hp! Grab a GNX motor and then your gonna be a happy camper. Technology has come a long way since then. As an auto tech I worked on a lot of those in Regals and the like and they were so slow I couldnt even do a burnout on wet concrete, lol.
Trust me you dont want a NA 3.8, The GN motor is a different story, made roughly double the power compared to the regular 3.8.

I wouldnt doubt it, I spend a LOT of time on the LS1tech Forums and the new thing is guys are grabbing JY 5.3 motors and GIANT turbos 88s or bigger and laying down 4 digit numbers, they usually get a Junkyard motor, re-gap the upper rings so they dont butt up under high heat and break the piston crown off. There is a dude there in a 4wd running damn 8 second quarters with a clapped out 200K mi. JY motor on high boost. Talk about sleeper!

I didnt know before I bought it that the LS1 motors arent very strong with the stock internals, seems like 5-600 is the safest you can go on a conservative tune with low boost, get some good rods and pistons and 1000 is not unheard of. Those 5.3 motors, guys are squeaking out 1500!

I'm around 400rw now and its pretty damn fast for a little 5 lug 1st gen and it looks totally stock. :p

Hows your truck doing these days, and whats your current setup?

That XR is by no means stock! I would have to dig up its specs. He used to be on XRU.

Mine is currently on a sleeved 1GR, over bored ~0.900" Hehe. So a 4.17L. Since the sleeved stroker engine short block is nearing completion, i didn't finish having this engine tuned. Since it won't be long until I swap that 4.3L in.

I love the exhaust note of a 3.8 cruising down the road and I'm cheap plus I've been the way of the small block chevy and I'm done with it (with all due respect) I'd love to drop an intercooled GN motor in this son of a bitch but I doubt it'll ever happen.

I think he used an LS2 or LS3 block, and yeah his wasnt a JY motor but thats what a lot of guys are doing to get the best bang for the buck.

Your truck is going to be a beast! Too bad your arent closer so we could run em!

Knowing nothing about the car or the ad I'd love to see this sob on a truck to Houston (wink, wink)
