Alignment today.... With a "Lifetime Alignment Warranty" $3.47 to re-align as many times as is necessary for the rest of the duration of my ownership of the truck. Looks like I'm going to need to put in my Light Racing UCAs in order to get both Camber and Caster in spec. Stock UCAs aren't cutting it.

 

I just checked my u-bolts on my '15. They were pretty loose.. Took almost a full turn on each nut to get them to 73ftlbs. I was having that occasional thump after coming to a complete stop. I'll see tomorrow how it drives.

 

Yeah, there might be a slight shudder. That could also just be your tires slipping under heavy acceleration from a stop too. Which is not hard to do with the light ass ends of these trucks.

 

It's actually from weak or worn out leaf springs.

Your description of your "rear end" feeling sounds like the tranny shifting into 1st after stopping or the a/c compressor kicking on. Which are both issues with the tacoma.

 

I think I have heard of people getting reimbursedfl for them.

 

I believe you can file a claim to get reimbursed if you have receipts. Also if you had the frame replaced from the other recall you supposedly got the new leafs, just an fyi.

where the F offers lifetime warranties on alignments?!?! have i been living under a rock?!

 

Brake Check sells a "Lifetime Warranty" for their alignments.
I've heard that NTB has a "5 Year Alignment Warranty"
and Firestone I believe has a "Lifetime Warranty"

I went with Brake Check because they specifically don't have any fine print I could find. Firestone depending on location can be a PITA if you're suspension isn't 100% stock.

 

How high is your lift? Doesn't look like they even really tried. That's the issue with lifetime alignment, gotta find a good tech.

 

Sears lifetime for under $200 couple months ago.

 

I have 2.5" of lift in front. I've tried a couple of different places and they all said there was no way to adjust caster, but then I see guys on here with the same amount of lift who got a good alignment. What gives?

 

Put a Dual USB charger in the rear console cup holder area. And made it so it's always live

From what I've seen, each truck is different. I would think with a 2.5" lift, caster will at least be at +1 with camber at zero.

 

Mounted a Plano 42 case to my Prinsu Cabrac for my miscellaneous recovery supplies. So far- hitch mounted D-ring, tow strap, hi-lift mate for tires, Tekton ratchet set, and tire plug kit. Drilled a hole in the bottom of the case and slid it in the aluminum slotted bar. And put a Wheelers Off Road sticker to represent!

 

Very close to 3" up front.

I was going to say what DriverSound beat me to.

 

I'm at 2.5" with caster at 1.8* on stock UCAs. To get good numbers with more than 2" of lift you need UCAs that compensate for the change in geometry.
