Jason it is pretty easy, I have done two now. I used John's tool to remove mine and a bearing race driver to install both the new bearing and the seal

 

Sounds like a terrible class....

 

I never had one like it

 

Any of you rednecks thinking about going?

 

According to their website, there's a removal tool, and an install tool.

 

My install tool was a socket

 

Sounds pretty easy. The video makes it look easy. Hopefully the bolts cooperate.

 

I just got a message from my oldest telling me she is at the mall and ok. I didn't realize she was there but I have been reading about the stabbings and shooting.

 

So I'm trying to get the rear drums off to inspect the brakes. They should just pull off correct? With a little WD40 and some elbow grease.

 

It's not that bad.. Worst part is dealing with the axel

 

Just don't WD-40 the pads.. There might be threaded holes that you can thread an appropriate bolt into that will work as a wedge to pop it off. I haven't done the rear brakes on the taco yet, so this is speculation from doing it on other vehicles

 

Thanks. Was just watching a video, looks like I'm on the right track. I see the holes, just doesn't look like they are threaded.

 

They might be, and rust is hiding the threads from you.

 

Two of the holes are threaded. Now to see if I have a bolt to use.

 

There's a hole on the back side, that you can release the tension of the shoes . Then the cover will fall off .

 

It spins freely though. I would think there isn't any tension from the shoes.

 

Use never seize afterwards where the drum touches the hub.. Should help for next time.

 

What a pain, got it out, the threaded holes did the trick.

What do you think. Time for shoes, or just a good cleaning to get rid of the noise?

 

Looks to me like there is some good meat on them.
