South Carolina BS thread under new MANAGEMENT and lives in SC

Its been a long time but The place is called Assateague island. I think only the Maryland part of the island is permitted for camping. Island is full of wild horses, and i think you can drive your vehicle down the beaches. Check it out first.

 

So...it looks like Cape Lookout National Park has primitive beach camping and you can drive on the beach to find that special spot. I'm going to have to plan a trip!

Have done this- check out NC ferry system. Speed limits on sand are slow.

Catching up from last night:

I spent my first 30 years in San Diego; loved growing up there. Grew up in Poway. Never surfed- not even once. Ocean too cold!

Soon after college, wife and I wanted to GTFO of SoCal. As of this past January- we have been South Carolinians for a full decade!

Sold during that housing boom/ bust. We sold at peak market- took the money and ran, lol!

Like I said though, nearly every vacation discussion involves Cali.

Okracoke isle- if I recall. Took ferry from Cedar point. Really understand the NC ferry system.
I have been all points south of Roanoke. Check out National park service website- the will have all recenent info.

Also there are dunes. Camping was on the land side of the dunes- because the sea turtle nests are on the oceanside of the dunes.

Weather was more desert like- which is random.

 

@MKW also have you been to Edisto Islnd Beach State Park? Its in SC.

You can camp on the beach, under palmeto palms, inside the dunes of course.

Take a look at Bahia Honda State park in FL; long drive, looks fun.
